Behind the beige curtains, a pair of eyes, clear as black and white, watched the tall, handso man enter the small building that was so mismatched with his powerful aura. After a while, she saw him co out again.
His sharp, cold eyes and thin lips exuded an aura that warned strangers to keep their distance. On such a bustling street, he beca an especially captivating sight.
Avery Jane bit her lip, ignoring the whirlwind of emotions within her, watching his figure gradually disappear around the corner of the street.
She couldn’t go back yet. With Joshua Hughes’s temperant, he would likely have soone watching her here, so she needed to hide for a short period of ti.
Fortunately, she had packed her identification for Washington State along with so simple docunts, and she planned to quietly slip away from the back later. Actually, taking an island tour for half a month to clear her mind wouldn’t be bad.
She had always wanted to go to the East to relax, and this ti her wish finally ca true.
But this ti, everyone guessed wrong.......
She didn’t manage to return to her rented room imdiately, nor did Joshua send anyone to watch over her.
Joshua flew back with confidence, believing that the word he left on the table would be enough to make Avery Jane return to his side as quickly as possible. Yet, Avery Jane never returned to that small room she had lived in. With her simple luggage, she left Seattle and comnced the island tour.
Sotis, things are like this; it’s hard to explain how they happen. Perhaps so people are destined to be entangled together, painfully.
Employee Cafeteria
Alexander King looked at his tray, with simple dishes of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, slices of stir-fried at, a vegetable dish, and a bowl of soup.
Nothing special. He had nagged Nora Thompson about eating together. Later, Nora said she always ate in the downstairs employee cafeteria, so he accompanied her down. The food was simple enough to be surprising. Was this how she ate every day?
Alexander watched as Nora ate rice in small bites. To her, the very simple al seed like a savory feast.
It reminded him of Jade Willow. Only the best food passed her lips; the restaurant always booked the most expensive dishes, from basic shark fin and bird’s nest to air-flown foie gras from France and Japanese Wagyu beef. She drank the most expensive French mineral water, even using it to wash her face. He had accustod an ordinary girl to a life of royalty, yet here sat a truly well-read princess, who was not the least bit picky.
The stir-fried at was a bit tough, the vegetables weren’t the freshest, and the rice was a bit dry. Yet, everything seed to be t with calm acceptance by Nora.
"Charlotte, is it really enough nutrition to eat this every day?" Alexander felt a bit distressed. She was rather thin, her slender waist seed like it could snap at any mont; she should be living a better life. If he hadn’t ssed things up, she’d be quietly making simple but delicious als at ho for him, picking the freshest ingredients at the supermarket, instead of dealing with busy work for a re bite.
Is that how Isaac Thompson dotes on his daughter?
He could even bear for his daughter to join this n’s battlefield. No matter how intelligent a girl is, even she can’t withstand such work pressure.
"What do you like to eat? I’ll have the chef at the manor prepare it and send it over to you." He accompanied her while picking at his food. Honestly, once your stomach got used to delicacies, eating sothing like this always felt rough.
"I have two chefs at ho, one of them a pastry chef," Nora said in a quiet tone while chewing her vegetable, without even lifting her head.
Alexander knew what she ant. She was saying if she wanted, she didn’t need him to prepare anything for her.
But he just wanted to do sothing for her. She was his young wife; after what had happened post-marriage, he felt he had already let her down a lot. To let her live like this now, his expression gradually darkened.
"Charlotte, what do you want from ? We are still married. Give a chance, will you?" People passed by in the cafeteria, many quietly noting them. Their calm female boss dining with a handso man at the cafeteria was unheard of.
Alexander’s gaze was fervent; he did not shy away from others’ glances, nor did he care. In fact, he was doing it deliberately, asserting his claim.
