Charlotte took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but she found it completely useless. Just thinking about what might happen made her nervous to the point of losing control.
Would Atlas Hallow co in a fit of rage and kick the door open?
Leaning against the office door, her wide, watery eyes t with Ethan Baird’s gaze by the window, full of tension and confusion.
Ethan saw this side of Charlotte for the first ti.
The girl he called his little sweetheart had many facets; sotis innocent, sotis stubborn, strikingly wise at work, but now she seed like a different person because of Atlas. Clearly, Atlas ant sothing special to her.
Abroad, young handso n pursued her, Charlotte was always very attractive to n, but it seed that she was entirely oblivious to feelings, or perhaps her heart hadn’t been set on that, but now it seed maybe those n weren’t enough to stir her feelings.
So how was Atlas Hallow different in Charlotte’s heart?
Atlas knocked on the door once, since the office door was locked, Charlotte should be inside. What’s going on?
"Charlotte..." the deep voice in the afternoon felt like a series of hypnotic spells, gradually tightening her heart, until it seed that her whole heart was in his grasp, squeezed and released at his will, controlling her every heartbeat and breath.
"What are you so afraid of? I’ll go talk to him." Ethan walked up to Charlotte, gently patting her tense body, comforting her softly.
What era is this? Is a married woman not allowed to have a male friend anymore?
Atlas Hallow was just too domineering, right? His outdated thinking was almost laughable.
"You don’t understand, he is very stubborn." Charlotte closed her eyes, her lashes trembling slightly, sighed and spoke helplessly. Atlas was truly stubborn to the point of being impossible to communicate with on certain matters.
She had said there was nothing between her and Ethan, just pure friendship, but he wouldn’t listen to her explanations at all.
If there was anything truly romantic, she would have married Ethan long ago, rather than returning to the country to register for marriage with him.
Moreover, it’s impossible she would keep herself pure, letting him take her virginity.
But obviously he knew these reasons, yet he wouldn’t allow a male friend, almost like a soulmate, to remain in her life, and he was very determined about it.
Outside the door, Atlas was already sensing sothing amiss. A few minutes passed and she still hadn’t opened the door, what’s she doing?
The paper bag in his hand contained sweet lotus pastries emitting a sugary aroma, guessing she would like them, he had specially brought them back. Yet, he was greeted by a firmly locked door. This floor was his office, aside from him or his guests, no one should co up casually. Why lock the door?
