He switched his target and swung his sword upward instead.

Just the act of switching his sword generated enough wind force before his sword arc leaped out.

The pillar of light that had been aid at him was cut into two instantly, but the two parts still continued to fall like hamrs and ramd into the ground beside him, causing an explosion of heat with him trapped inside.
