The mont those words left her lips, the entire room suddenly turned deathly silent. Everyone absolutely looked stunned, including the chief of police.
"... Your man?" Claire repeated slowly, not quite believing it.
"Yes."
anwhile all the police officers outside the room who had been secretly eavesdropping through the door nearly choked on their breath.
The famous Nyx? Known as the uncrowned queen of the city’s underworld and also the most beautiful woman in the entire city? That Nyx... actually had a man?!
Almost unconsciously, everyone’s gaze slowly shifted toward Alex at the sa ti. Though the brat looked really handso, they still found it impossible. Alex himself blinked twice before asking with a bit of discomfort.
"Uhm. Why are all of you looking at like that?"
After all he didn’t exactly fancy people staring at him, as if he had just done sothing crazy. Like jumping to the moon and back.
Claire however quickly recovered from her shock. Then her beautiful face twisted into a sneer all of a sudden.
"Look. Even if he is your man, you still don’t have the right to barge into a police station and demand his release without concrete proof."
Her cold eyes narrowed sharply.
"And Princess, though you might be one of the most powerful people in this city among ordinary humans, but in terms of real power..." A faint fiery aura began leaking from her body. "I alone am enough to destroy your entire faction without breaking a sweat."
The temperature inside the room imdiately began rising.
"So stop acting like so self entitled little bitch and follow the proper legal process."
The atmosphere instantly beca tense. The chief of police nearly broke out into cold sweat again, why did all this have to happen in his jurisdiction? anwhile Doris slowly removed the gum from her mouth before muttering under her breath.
"Oh boy..."
Nyx however remained completely calm as if she was not the one that was being talked to. Her cold amber eyes rely landed on Claire indifferently before she spoke in an emotionless voice.
"You’re trying far too hard to look intimidating, but it’s honestly embarrassing. A truly powerful person will never see the need to remind others that they’re powerful. It’s only insecure people that do that."
The room froze for like the umpteenth ti today. Alex almost had the urge to laugh, but he quickly held it in. As for Claire, her eyes instantly widened with pure rage.
"What did you just say to ?"

A terrifying wave of heat suddenly exploded from her body. This ti her fiery red hair literally ignited into flas of red hot fire, causing the entire interrogation room temperature to skyrocket with astonishing speed.
Soon even the tal table began turning slightly red from the heat. Alex, who was closest to her, felt the full wave of the heat, and gritted his teeth. He was beginning to feel like a Thanksgiving turkey who had just been kept inside an oven at 1000 degrees.
But he endured the heat and instinctively prepared himself in case things suddenly went south. But just as Claire looked about ready to erupt completely, the male Ascendant Realm expert suddenly placed a palm on her shoulder.
"Claire. Calm down."
His voice wasn’t particularly loud, but it carried an undeniable sense of authority.
Claire clenched her fist tightly while glaring at Nyx with murderous intent. Eventually however, she forcefully suppressed her aura and clicked her tongue irritably.
"Tch."
The flas around her hair slowly disappeared afterward, and the room returned to its previous temperature.
The male expert sighed tiredly before looking toward Nyx.
"Even though my partner could have... Phrased things better, the underlying point still remains true, Miss Nyx." His expression beca serious. "You cannot interfere in an official investigation especially one concerning Awakeneds without any sort of proof or concrete evidence supporting your claims."
Nyx looked at him calmly for a few seconds, before her lips suddenly curved up slightly.
"And who exactly said I ca here without any evidence?"
The man’s brows furrowed slightly. Nyx however rely turned her head toward the doorway and said.
"Clinton. You can co in now."
Almost imdiately, footsteps echoed from outside. A tall burly African Arican, who looked more white than dark, walked into the interrogation room carrying a sleek black laptop in his arm.
The man looked like he was in his late twenties. He had neatly trimd black coily hair, sharp mature facial features, nice gold rimd glasses resting on the bridge of his nose, and a calm scholarly aura that contrasted heavily with his muscular build.
Clinton calmly adjusted his glasses before greeting everyone politely.
"Good evening."
Nyx crossed her arms and said casually.
"Don’t let his appearance fool you. Clinton here is one of the best computer experts under . He graduated from Harvard at just twenty years old."
Everyone looked shocked including Alex. Computer genius? Honestly he thought the guy was a retired soldier or maybe one of Nyx’s Awakened subordinates.
Nyx continued calmly.
"He was able to recover and reconstruct so of the footage from one of the damaged security caras near the battle scene."
Unknown to everyone the male Ascendant expert’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"Show them." Nyx said calmly while gesturing toward Clinton.
Clinton nodded before opening his laptop. A few monts later, a blurry but functional video appeared on the screen. The footage clearly showed Alex’s Lamborghini Murciélago driving through the street when all of a sudden, a wind slash attack that was barely visible under the rain, ca from the grey sedan following them, and slashed the rear tire of the Lamborghini.
Soon the footage continued, showing Alex stepping out from the wreckage before confronting the Chinese man and the two others. Before the thin man suddenly attacked him with a wind slash, that looked eerily the sa as the first one.
And even though the audio was less than perfect, everyone clearly heard that the attackers were sent by the Kades.
Nyx calmly walked closer toward the laptop and paused the footage at the exact mont the traffic pole holding the security cara was destroyed.
"As you all can clearly see, unless you’re blind that is. Alex was acting entirely in self defense against individuals who were sent specifically to assassinate him."
She glanced toward the two Ascendant experts before continuing.
"And before any one of you attempt to use property destruction as an excuse to hold him... I will cover every single expense for the damage cost. Just send the exact bill to ."
The male Ascendant expert beca silent. If he was being honest, the real reason why they ca personally, instead of sending a couple of vanguard realm subordinates, wasn’t because of so dead Vanguard Realm expert.
It was because Alex and Jade were too valuable. One was a dual ability Awakened possessing both ice and healing abilities with insane physical ability for his level. While the other possessed both lightning and teleportation!
People like them were absurdly rare. And not only that, but dual ability users possessed one of the highest probabilities of stepping into the Transcendent Realm soday. The governnt naturally couldn’t ignore talents like that.
That was why they originally intended to pressure them a bit before bringing them into controlled custody. But now... Things had beco troubleso because of this woman.
The man sighed inwardly before rubbing his forehead tiredly.
Claire however still looked unconvinced and said.
"For all I know, that footage could easily be forged."
Clinton calmly adjusted his glasses and replied.
"If you want, you’re free to bring any forensic computer specialist you want to check it out." His tone remained polite. "But I assure you it is authentic."
The male Ascendant expert stared at the footage for several more seconds before sighing deeply.
"... There is no need for any of that."
He already knew that the Kade family was involved anyway. This rely confird it officially. Eventually he looked toward Alex and spoke helplessly.
"Since new evidence has been found that you did in fact do it in self defense, I have no choice but to release both you and your partner."
Alex grinned lazily.
"Glad we could co to an understanding."
Claire looked visibly annoyed by his relaxed attitude but chose not to say anything else.
About ten minutes later Alex’s handcuffs were finally removed, making him finally stretch his hands with relief. Soon afterward, the group walked toward the other room where Jade was kept.
The mont the door opened, Jade slowly lifted her gaze. Then the instant her blue eyes landed on Nyx, they froze, causing Alex to raise an eyebrow in surprise.
This was the second ti since he t her, that she was not looking as indifferent as ever. He watched as a complicated storm of emotions suddenly flashed through her cold blue eyes. Ranging from shock to disbelief to confusion, then to sothing deeper, that caused her pupils to tremble faintly.
For a brief second, her eyes beca slightly watery as though she was about to cry. But the emotion vanished almost imdiately afterward. She quickly suppressed everything and returned to her usual indifferent appearance.
Still... Alex had noticed everything. And what was even surprising was that Nyx also looked at Jade differently.
Her expression might have barely changed outwardly, but deep within her cold amber eyes, Alex caught a trace of joy, hidden so deeply, that he thought he was just seeing things. But it was definitely there.
’Hm? Sothing definitely feels strange between those two.’
But before he could think further, Doris suddenly said.
"Can we leave now? After all we haven’t exactly eaten anything since morning, Boss."
Nyx chuckled softly.
"Alright let’s go."

A few minutes later. Inside a luxurious black luxury SUV with the latest features in 2009, Doris sat in the driver’s seat while casually chewing gum. Clinton occupied the passenger seat and was busy quietly typing on his laptop.
In the back seat was Jade on the right, Alex in the center, and Nyx on the left. The atmosphere inside the car was strangely quiet. Alex leaned back against the super comfy leather seat while closing his eyes briefly.
If he were to describe today in one word it would be crazy.
Firstly he nearly died, then rewinded ti, then got arrested. And now he was sitting in a luxury SUV in between two terrifyingly beautiful won. Well it’s not like he was complaining about that one, but today was just one hell of a rollercoaster.
Eventually Nyx finally broke the awkward silence.
"The Kade family will begin hunting you seriously from this point onward. They won’t see you as a little threat anymore, but as sothing that needs to be put down at all cost. After all the death of a vanguard Realm Awakened expert isn’t exactly sothing they can just simply ignore."
Alex slowly opened his eyes with a solemn expression on his handso face. Nyx continued with a serious face.
"And most importantly. I am a hundred percent sure that they would most definitely send that old monster."
"Old monster?"
Nyx nodded calmly.
"The strongest expert under the Kade family who is an Ascendant Realm Awakened that has been in that Realm for decades now."
Even Jade’s eyes changed after hearing that.
"He rarely moves personally, but once he does... Nobody leaves to see the light of the next day."
Alex rubbed his forehead tiredly.
Great! Just great!
He had barely survived one Ascendant Realm opponent, by going back in ti before the bastard broke through. And now another stronger monster who had been in that Realm for a longer period was going to co after him. Yeah he was fucked. Unless he manages to level up quickly then he is as good as dead.
"So for now, I would have advised you to stay low and avoid being seen in public... But since I’ll be leaving for South Korea tomorrow regarding an important business eting, you will follow ."
Alex had no choice but to agree. That seed like the only plausible and safe plan for now, but it wouldn’t hold on forever.
Nyx then turned towards Jade and said softly.
"As for you... You can stay in one of my private penthouses temporarily until things calm down. Are you okay with that?"
Jade remained silent for several seconds before eventually nodding her head.
"...Okay."
"Also I’ll have one of my people contact your school and inform them that the both of you won’t be attending classes for the next week or two."
