The apartnt returned to normal but it was completely wrecked. All the pieces of furniture were broken down. The wallpaper was completely peeled off. Countless holes on the wall.
The bed was reduced to dust.
The three Water Clones owed one last ti before dissolving into water. They used up all their Chaos to attack the female wraith.
"Oh, no! My babies!" Selina tried to grab little Maters but she couldn’t.
The original black cat lay on the floor with its belly up. Mater stuck out his tongue and breathed like a dog. That fight was unexpectedly demanding. The wraith wasn’t strong offensively but it was one hell of a health sponge.
It was probably because of its fusion with the room. It took Mater, his three clones, and Aurora, constantly damaging to kill it entirely.
But in exchange, it had a lot more Chaos than the usual level 3. From the ceiling, ten pieces of Chaos Stones materialized and fell to the ground.
"Well. At least the loot is good." Mater got up on his feet and walked to the Chaos Stones. He opened his mouth and sucked all of them inside.
"I’ll take my leave, Master." Aurora bowed and jumped back into the Dark Grimoire. Her clothes were left scattered on the floor.
Selina grabbed the clothes and the book to put them back into her backpack.
"You’re okay, Mr. Mater?" Selina said.
Mater gave her a thumbs up.
"I’m glad. That was... Crazy!" It was the first ti Selina saw a full-blown battle between Mater and another wraith. Needless to say, she was impressed to the bones.
The way Mater fought was completely different from the other Psychics that she had seen. His sheer amount of power was on a completely different level. Those purple spheres. Aurora’s ice power. The clones were also an unbelievable ability.
Selina picked Mater up gently. She rubbed her nose at his nose. "I am glad to have t you, Mr. Mater."
" too, woman. I am glad to see you naked." Mater owed.
The two of them left the apartnt. They stood at the door and phoned Neil.
"Yes, Miss Isles? Do you need help with the footage?" Neil answered the phone.
"Uh... I am calling to report that the NCE has been taken care of. I will notify the ACPD to co and clean the cri scene soon."
"You did what?!" Neil scread to the phone.
It was less than an hour since Neil left Selina. He didn’t think she would be that efficient. The landlord quickly went into the elevator and arrived at the thirteenth floor. He saw Selina and her black cat standing at the door.
Selina scratched her head in embarrassnt. "I’m sorry but the battle did cause quite a lot of damage to the apartnt."
The goth girl pushed the door open, revealing the destructive scenery behind.
Neil widened his eyes. He looked at the room then back at Selina. Neil did that quite a few tis. He couldn’t believe how such a delicate girl could cause such havoc.
Neil completely believed that Selina had dealt with the NCE. He could feel the difference in the floor. It was like night and day.
Previously, there was always that eerie feeling even in the hallway and the temperature was always as cold as winter. All of that was gone now. The hallway was warm. The invisible dread disappeared without trace.
Neil gulped. "You are one scary goth, Miss Isles.
"Haha." Selina let out a shy smile.
After that, she and the landlord reached out to the ACPD for them to co and clean up the place.
Carpenter arrived at the apartnt building with the other cops. There were even so scientists from the Institute. They usually ca to the scene of an NCE to study them.
Selina and Neil had gone to the ground floor to greet the police.
"Lucy!" Selina said.
"Hey, Selina. I heard you have been working very hard lately. You even solved the case in NEO Mall, huh?" Carpenter said.
"Yup! All thanks to this kitty!" Selina lifted Mater up.
"ow?"
"Wow. I didn’t think you would grow this fast, Selina..." Carpenter sighed gently. Her reaction caught Mater’s attention.
’Now that I think about it. The only people that can hack the ACPD system is soone that can access the computer of Baltimore and other detectives. They aren’t a detective themselves because if they are, they wouldn’t need to try and bypass the encryption of the redacted data.
Carpenter is very close to Baltimore. It will be easy for her to access his computer. I wonder...’
Mater thought silently. He didn’t outright expect Carpenter to be the hacker. But he would for sure keep a close eye on her more than before.
"I tried to call you for that case as well. But you didn’t pick up." Selina said.
"Right. I had so family business to take care of. You should reach out to Detective Baltimore and Cole next ti. They’re at the station much more than . And with the rate of you solving cases, I doubt they would see you as troubleso."
Selina and Mater left the rest for the police to figure out. Selina said goodbye to Neil and they left the cri scene.
An entire day of productivity. They solved three of the fifteen cases and found that one of them actually had an NCE.
The sun was starting to set and the pair needed sothing to fill their stomachs. Mater pointed to a famous sushi restaurant nearby and chose that as their dining place.
Everyone was looking at them when they were ordering. The black cat sat on the table and flipped the nu like a human. When it saw sothing it liked, it pointed to it and owed.
The waiter wrote everything down in shock. He was afraid that he was dreaming or sothing similar. But everything was real. A cat was truly picking food from the nu.
So people around took out their phone to record the two of them, which Mater spotted and hissed at.
"Hey! It’s not nice to record people like that!" Selina said.
"I’m sorry. The cat just looks so smart." The other patrons apologized. They finally stopped recording Selina and Mater.
Throughout the dinner, people still glanced at them secretly. So wanted to observe the ridiculous cat that was picking up the piece of sushi with its paw and doused it in soy sauce. It really liked wasabi and put an ungodly amount on the piece of raw fish.
The other wanted to sneak a peak at Selina. A girl wearing a historical outfit with an angelic face. She looked like she walked out of a fairy tale.
