Jane Sampson looked at the two young team mbers running away and turned back to smile softly at Jas Black, "They’re quite amusing."
Those two looked even younger than her, playfully ssing with each other as they ran back.
It was the age of youthful innocence, free of worries.
Jas felt a block in his heart, unable to decide how to feel about Jane’s comnt.
His wife enjoying the atmosphere in the guard team was a good thing, but liking the people there didn’t seem to make him happy.
Amusing?
Ha.
Jas took Jane’s hand again and casually took the bag she was holding.
Weighing it, it was indeed not light.
"What were you about to say?" Jas asked. He had noticed that when those two had appeared, Jane was about to speak to him.
"Ah?" Jane blinked, confused for a mont, "I forgot."
Jane scratched her head. Was she about to say sothing just now?
"Goofy," Jas said with a chuckling voice.
Jane huffed, twisted her head, and gave Jas an ’you’re the goofy one’ look before she started to recall what she was going to say to him.
After thinking hard for a few seconds, Jane finally rembered, was she about to talk to Jas about a birthday gift?
She had actually prepared a birthday gift for him.
But she hadn’t brought it out yet.
She had planned to give it to him before sleep last night, but before sleep, she had been devoured thoroughly and later forgot.
Jane hooked her finger in the palm of Jas’s hand and began to speak, "When we get back ho I’ll—"
"Sister-in-law!"
The words following "I" were abruptly cut off.
Another familiar-looking team mber erged from behind them, holding a bag of candy.
"Good evening, sister-in-law! Oh, this is so candy my sister brought back from abroad. I heard from Peter Gingery that you love candy, so this is for you," the team mber said as he handed over a bag of fruit chewy candy to Jane, then added, "Sister-in-law, whenever you’re free, co visit us at the guard team! We really like you!"
Without waiting for Jas to respond, the team mber cheerily ran off.
In the blink of an eye, Jane’s hand now held a bag of candy.
She slowly looked up at Jas Black, who was scowling, and cheekily grinned, "I’ll share half the candy with you."
Jas neither affird nor declined.
His only thought was that Jane had co to the guard team to see her husband, so what did these ’rabbit kids’ have to do with it?
"Let’s walk over there," Jas led Jane down another path, eager to avoid eting more people.
When they reached a secluded spot, Jas finally said, "What were you saying about when we get back ho? Continue?"
But as soon as Jas spoke, footsteps sounded from behind them.
"Sister-in-law! Chief, what a coincidence! Are you also here for an evening walk? We’re here for a walk too," two team mbers grinned, showing their teeth three ters ahead under the moonlight.
Jane turned around to look at her surroundings, then her gaze fell on the hands of the two team mbers.
So, the male mbers of the guard team were on such friendly terms that they’d go for a walk together hand in hand after als?
Just like she and Jas, holding hands in the sa manner.
