No matter where she went, to any corner of this world, he could find her, catch up to her.
Yet, only in the face of life and death, exhausting all efforts, he couldn’t catch up.
Jas Black’s fingertips gently touched the white cloth but he never gathered the courage to lift it, as if by not lifting that layer of white cloth, he could pretend she was still there.
"Excuse , mister," said a young girl next to him, wearing a pink trench coat, wiping her tears with her hand, "what is your relationship with my grandma? Please, how is my grandma, at her age, supposed to bear you a child?"
Before Jas could react, the girl added, comforting, "Don’t be so sad. If my grandma can’t bear you a child, how about I do it?"
Jas’s fingertips paused, and he turned to look at the girl who had spoken.
"Grandma?" Jas repeated softly. Were everyone in the crew so good at acting? Even in life, do they not stop acting?
But...
Only then did Jas raise his gaze and look at the group of people around him.
n and won, young and old.
At this mont, their gaze towards him was uniformly shocked and terrified.
"Yes, my grandma passed away in a car accident today," the girl’s voice was muffled. "We are all very saddened."
Jas’s hand slowly withdrew, and he took a small step back.
Suddenly, he felt a hand gently poking at his waist from behind. Jas swiftly turned to look and saw Jane Sampson, wearing a mask and a baseball cap, dumbly stretching out her index finger attempting to poke his shoulder.
"Jas, what are you doing here?" Her tone was as dumb and silly as her expression.
Almost subconsciously, Jas reached out and grasped Jane Sampson’s hand tightly, and with a forceful pull, dragged the bewildered person into his arms.
Tightening his hold, embracing her even more firmly.
So tight, as if he wished to ld her entire body into his.
Jane Sampson’s face was tightly pressed against his chest, the two clung together, almost leaving her breathless, her face seemingly deford by the pressure.
Yet, feeling Jas’s shoulders trembling slightly, Jane did not have the heart to push him away.
He was very sad.
Jane gently wrapped her arms around his waist.
Although she did not know why, Jane did not like to see him upset.
She had never seen Jas so distraught, not even before their rebirth when they were trapped under the ruins together, even though he kept bleeding, he spoke without any hesitation or emotion at that ti.
Now, the way he held her was unfamiliar, yet unfamiliarity brought her guilt.
The people nearby had realized that this man who suddenly burst out with shockingly or rather terrifying statents had mistaken soone.
The caregiver helped the relatives push the deceased elderly away from the third floor, outside Operation Room Two, and the area gradually quieted down.
Jane did not know how long Jas had held her, not until Lucy found her way over, did Jas slowly let go of Jane.
However, releasing her, he still held tightly onto her hand.
Lucy stood there, watching Jane Sampson and an unfamiliar man embraced, completely frightened to the point she dared not to step any closer, without waiting for Jane to say anything, she uttered an "ah", pointed to the side and just walked in.
"Is that your new assistant?" Jas asked with a hoarse voice.
