"Are you still thinking about the jokes Old Young made before he had the accident?" Sister Shaw chuckled, revealing the wrinkles at the corner of her eyes.
Seeing Jane’s puzzled face, Sister Shaw explained, "Peter said that his Brother married a heavenly beauty. Old Young didn’t believe it because he always thought that soone like Jas would never be able to get a wife in his lifeti. Old Young said he’d have to see it with his own eyes to believe it."
Perhaps because it had been a long ti since anyone had sat and talked with her about her husband, Sister Shaw let out a soft sigh when she ntioned her late husband in front of Jas and Jane, but she still managed a smile, "Old Young used to say Jas was a thousand-year-old rotten wood, so decayed that it was hollow and even the termites were gone."
Jane burst out laughing and secretly glanced at Jas, her eyes brimming with teasing.
"However, seeing him bring you here today, my Old Young would have believed it. Peter was right, she really is as beautiful as a celestial maiden." Sister Shaw had recognized Jane the mont she took off her mask when she entered.
Nowadays, a highly popular actress, Sister Shaw couldn’t possibly not recognize her.
But since she was Jas’s wife, Sister Shaw didn’t ask too many questions or say too much, treating it as casually as catching up with old friends who are husband and wife.
"Thank you, Sister Shaw," Jane, flattered by the complint, said softly, "Seeing you like this, Brother Young must have had high standards when looking for a girlfriend!"
"That’s for sure," Sister Shaw wasn’t shy at all, "Old Young and I t through a blind date. He was the first person I t for marriage, but before , he had seen many girls. After we got together, I asked him why none of those previous dates had worked out. He said none of those girls were as pretty as . The mont he saw , he was bowled over by my beauty. He thought to himself, ’Old Young’s wife can only be , Laurel Shaw.’"
"How romantic!" Jane’s eyes sparkled as she listened to the conversation between Jas and Sister Shaw. Brother Young and Jas must have been close teammates.
Both were in the sa guard team, so why was there such a big difference between them?
Just look at how articulate Brother Young was, capable of making any girl’s heart bloom with happiness.
"Right? Before eting Old Young, I always thought soldiers were just straightforward n, but later I found out that whether a man is straightforward or not really depends on whether he cares about you. If he truly cares about you, loves you, wants to cherish you, even the straightest guy can beco a particularly gentle person because of you." The more Sister Shaw spoke, the brighter her smile grew.
As Jane and Sister Shaw talked, Jas kept watching the changes in Jane’s expressions—sotis exclaiming how romantic it was, other tis nodding vigorously in agreent with Sister Shaw.
Initially, he was worried about bringing people together, concerned that Jane and Sister Shaw might not have much to talk about due to their age difference. But now, it seed he worried for nothing.
His wife, even if Sister Shaw were in her seventies or eighties, he guessed she could make the conversation delightfully lively.
Soft and fluffy, a Jane like this was impossible not to love.
After chatting with Jane for a while, a cleanly dressed woman in her forties ca out from the kitchen and asked Sister Shaw, "Lady Boss, should I set the pot base out here in the courtyard, or shall we find a private room?"
