Had it not been for the constant flow of people in the storefront, he would have really liked to pull down her mask and give her a kiss.
In a short while, Jane Sampson, holding her new mobile phone, was gleefully led out of the shopping mall by Jas Black. The first thing she did with the new phone was to copy all the photos backed up on the cloud drive back into her phone album.
At the mont her mobile phone broke, Jane felt relieved inside, grateful for her habit of occasionally backing up the information on her phone. So, during this ti, she hadn’t lost a single photo of her and Jas Black.
"Stop playing with your phone while walking," Jas comnted when he noticed Jane’s entire focus was on her phone, and he offered her a reminder.
"Okay," Jane responded, then put her phone into her purse and turned her head to ask Jas, "Where are we going now?"
"Before it gets dark, I’m going to take you to et Old Young, and after we return from the Martyrs’ Mausoleum, I will take you around King Town’s night market," Jas said.
"Okay," Jane nodded. She saw a flower shop ahead, pulled Jas towards it, and after buying a bouquet, they hailed a car to King Town’s Martyrs’ Mausoleum.
To protect the peace of the martyrs resting here, King Town’s Martyrs’ Mausoleum had not beco a tourist attraction open to the public, even though it was the resting place of martyrs from hundreds of years who belonged to King Town. However, King Town did not use the stories of these martyrs as a gimmick to attract tourists.
At the doorway, after Jas showed his military officer identification, he led Jane, carrying the bouquet, inside.
The Martyrs’ Mausoleum was vast but very clean, and at this ti, the fragrance of osmanthus flowers filled the air.
"Right Jas, don’t Sister Shaw and Brother Young have any children?" Jane asked out of curiosity. "I’ve never heard you or Sister Shaw ntion anything about children."
"They once had one, but they couldn’t keep it; there was an accident and the child passed away. Sister Shaw was physically injured giving birth to the child, and afterward, spent years slowly recovering. Just when she started to get better and they were ready to try for another child, unfortunately, Old Young had an accident and sacrificed himself," Jas said with a gentle sigh, feeling a sense of regret each ti this topic ca up.
"It’s been years since Old Young passed away. Sister Shaw is still young, attractive, and independent. Many people later advised Sister Shaw to remarry, and quite a few even arranged matches for her, but she refused them all," Jas explained. "Sister Shaw said that having experienced a husband like Old Young who cherished her dearly, she couldn’t find another person in this world who would understand how to love her the sa. Since such a person doesn’t exist, marrying anyone else would rely be settling, and she doesn’t believe she needs to settle. Living alone, maintaining the ho she shared with Old Young, is perfectly fine."
Old Young had not left behind a son or daughter for Sister Shaw; when he left, what remained for Sister Shaw was just their ho, filled with his traces.
For a long ti, that ho was a place Sister Shaw dared not set foot in.
Later, having co to terms with it, Sister Shaw didn’t want to leave that ho at all.
Or perhaps, Sister Shaw couldn’t bear to leave that ho filled with mories of Old Young.
"Many people think Sister Shaw is stubborn, that she will regret it when she’s older, and even a lot of people pity her," Jas shared. Then, he suddenly looked down and asked Jane, "Do you think Sister Shaw is pitiful?"
"Sister Shaw has lost her husband, so naturally, she is a pitiable person, but she doesn’t need anyone’s pity. She has experienced this world’s most sincere love, and she chooses to continue guarding those mories."
