"Heh." Jillian Carter sat on the sofa and let out a cold, aningless laugh.
"Jillian," Father Carter deeply furrowed his eyebrows, "why did you deceive daddy and mommy? Why did you, who were supposed to be studying abroad, spend so many years in King Town?"
"Daddy, you’re asking why?" Jillian’s eyes reddened as she looked at Father Carter. "Because I didn’t want to go overseas. I didn’t want to be alone in a strange city, unfamiliar with the place, not knowing the language, without relatives, without friends, with everything around being completely unknown. Daddy, I am a girl, wouldn’t I be scared?"
"If you didn’t want to go, you could have told us. If you really didn’t want to go, were really scared, do you think we would have forced you to stay abroad?"
At that mont, the authoritative Minister Carter was nothing more than a father, a father feeling furious and heartbroken because of his daughter’s deceit.
"Wouldn’t you?" Jillian choked up, "Daddy, touch your heart and answer this question. If I had said I didn’t want to go abroad initially, would you and mommy really have let stay?"
After asking, Jillian shook her head on her own and laughed sarcastically, "Impossible."
She knew the answer in her heart, it was impossible.
"Because of my brother’s disability, although you never say it outright, you bla in your hearts, you resent . That’s why you wanted to send away, right?" Jillian lifted her hand to wipe away her tears. "But I didn’t do it on purpose at the ti. I didn’t know that just a push would cause my brother to fall and get his leg run over by a car. I feel terrible about my brother’s disability, I bla myself too. So why do you still treat this way?"
Jillian roared, "I know mom hates in her heart. Perhaps, she wishes she had never given birth to , this daughter. She blas for what happened to my brother, daddy, you bla too. Even my brother, even the brother who always tells he doesn’t bla might also bla in his heart! If possible, I’d give my legs to my brother."
"No one is blaming you, no one has blad you," Father Carter sighed heavily. "You have grown up, so why can’t you understand?"
"Back then when you were sent abroad, didn’t your brother also stay at ho? Didn’t your brother also go abroad?" Father Carter was truly frustrated. "Don’t you know the state your mother was in during that period? She couldn’t sleep well, was constantly upset, and blad herself for not taking good care of her child. Your brother knew mom was worried about him; that’s why he supported the idea of you going abroad to give mom so ti to recover. Why can’t you understand that?"
Father Carter coughed softly, his voice heavy, "Sending you abroad wasn’t just to give your mom so ti and space to clear her mind, but also because studying abroad would benefit your major. Didn’t you say during university that you were studying dia and wanted to help manage your brother’s company after graduation? So, your mom and I pulled many strings to get you that opportunity at a prestigious international university. And what did you do? You wasted that opportunity, and still think of your family this way?"
Hearing this, Jane Sampson silently turned and went to the balcony, leaving the room’s space to the father and daughter outside.
She should have co out just now, should not have stayed and overheard these private matters of the Carter family.
