"President Sampton," Jas Black began, not with ’dad,’ and his voice was exceptionally cold and hard, "in this world, no one has the right to discipline her over , her husband, nor is anyone qualified to lay a hand on her. I don’t want to see any handprint on my wife’s face, not even yours."
"So please rember, let this not happen again!"
After these words, the phone call was ended, and only the buzzing sound remained in the mobile phone until it unnerved and conflicted Father Sampton.
The "her" in question was, undoubtedly, Jane Sampson.
Even Jane herself hadn’t expected Jas to be so protective of her. Just because she had been slapped by her father, he had coldly called Father Sampton to threaten him, putting Father Sampton’s pride on the line.
"Jas Black," Jane felt a small surge of emotion inside her and reached out to tug at the man who had been nearly exploding with anger a few minutes earlier, "thank you."
"Your thanks are too cheap," Jas pushed Jane’s hand away.
Jane pouted, stuck her hand back in her pocket, and gently kicked the leg of the tea table, asking in a soft voice, "What about the Black Residence, and grandfather?"
"Since I’ve agreed, it’s useless even if grandfather disagrees." Jas intended to mock Jane, thinking it was perhaps too late to worry about the Black Family now, but seeing the longing look on Jane’s face, he changed his words, "I will handle the Black Family."
Having said that, Jas stood up.
Jane quickly retracted her limbs blocking the way, "Are you going back to the team base now?"
It was that sentence again.
Jas’s brows twitched slightly as he turned his head to glance at Jane, "You wish."
The next second, he added, "I’m staying ho tonight."
After he finished speaking, Jas went into the room. When he ca out again a while later, he was holding the family dicine kit. He took his seat in the sa spot as before and, with ointnt in hand, glanced at Jane and pointed towards the restroom, "Go wash off your makeup, then apply the dicine."
Jane obediently headed straight for the restroom, where she used the makeup remover to clean off the light makeup from her face. As she washed, Jas waited in the living room, and when she ca out, he took out the dicine from the dical box.
"Ouch, be gentle~" Jane wasn’t sure whether Jas was doing it on purpose, applying the dicine with neither gentleness nor care, making her grimace in pain.
"How’s the injury on your leg?" Jas eased the pressure of his hand, asking Jane as his gaze followed his words to her foot, "Take the shoes off, let see."
"It’s better," Jane kicked off her slippers and wiggled her toes.
Jas’s lips curled into a smile, "It’s the other foot."
The injured person herself didn’t know which foot was hurt, and Jas couldn’t help but laugh.
Jane paused for a few seconds then gave an embarrassed laugh and kicked off her other slipper, "It really is better. It’s been many days, and every day, following your advice, I’ve been applying dicine. It’s healed quickly."
Though Jane was the butt of the joke and felt slightly awkward, the atmosphere between the two of them had indeed beco more relaxed. Honestly, Jas looked really good when he smiled. His smile wasn’t the kind that showed his emotions at first glance. It was faint, restrained, but it made the oppressive air around him vanish.
"Jas, you really should smile more," Jane mustered her courage and mumbled.
Because of that one sentence, the smile imdiately disappeared from Jas’s lips.
"I have to deal with you annoying to death every day, what’s there to laugh about?" Jas switched to a new tube of dicine and gently applied it to Jane’s swollen lips. He’d been the one who caused it, so he was particularly gentle.
