The sentence that followed wasn’t spoken to Rock Bell over the phone, but to Jas Black seated beside her.
Jas Black sat next to her while she was on the phone with Rock Bell, so whatever Rock Bell said, Jas must have heard it loud and clear.
"Hmm," Jas did not show any signs of relaxing his furrowed brows, but he still responded to Jane Sampson.

Signing on for this movie ans it’s Jane’s first lead role in a film. Unexpectedly, Jas Carter would play the male lead—a huge publicity point and sothing for Jane to be proud of.
Although she’s never seen Jas Carter act, given his personality and approach to life, he definitely wouldn’t have accepted the role if he wasn’t confident he could play it well.
Jas Carter isn’t the type to change his career path for money, unless the male lead role itself is very appealing to him.
