Jillian Carter got married, so she can’t keep longing for Jas Black anymore.
Hmph, anyway, Jas Black is hers, Jane Sampson’s. She won’t accept objections from anyone, and certainly won’t accept anyone trying to steal him!
Downstairs, the whole family was brewing tea. Jane Sampson, still in a festive mood, didn’t chat much with Oscar Wilson before heading down. She circled around behind Jas Black to get back to her seat, her face lit up with a radiant smile.
"Going upstairs to answer a phone call made you this happy?" Peter Gingery was about to tease her with a sarcastic remark about whether she’d gotten a call from her little sweetheart, but his survival instincts kicked in, forcing him to swallow his words.
After all, Jas Black was sitting right there, staring at Jane with an intense gaze.
A gaze like that of a predator.
"Just now, who called you on video?" Jas Black casually asked as he poured Jane a cup of hot boiled water.
Though Jane Sampson loved tea eggs, she didn’t actually like drinking tea.
"Oscar Wilson," Jane replied.
Jas Black instinctively glanced over at Peter Gingery since Peter had earlier ntioned that Oscar Wilson had tried calling Jane but couldn’t get through. "Oscar told that Jillian Carter is getting married," Jane said, her exuberance evident. "I’m so happy!"
"Why are you so happy about soone else’s marriage?" Peter scoffed.
"How could a pig understand what makes people happy?" Jane tilted her head and earnestly stared at Peter before raising her hand to pat his forehead. "Poor little piglet."
Watching Peter get roasted and glare back in silence, Brooke Black and her husband sat to the side laughing out loud.
After lunch, Jane spent so ti playing gas with the Great General’s family of three before Peter pulled her away to play a ga together. During these days of Chinese New Year, everyone had more free ti and was mostly online.
But Harry Azure, who had left early on the fourth day of the lunar month, hadn’t logged back in since.
Oscar Wilson and "Hardly Nad" once asked Kane Forest why Harry was so busy, even during New Year’s. Kane shared that Harry’s family ran a hotel, making holidays even busier than regular days. Since then, no one had ntioned Harry Azure again.
That evening’s gathering was settled at a hotpot restaurant. Jane Sampson and Jas Black happened to run into Thomas Lancaster and Yvette Quick in the parking lot.
Jas Black was holding Jane’s hand, and the pair walking toward them were also hand-in-hand.
Jas Black furrowed his brows slightly. When Thomas and Yvette approached them, he opened his mouth and asked, "Are you two together now?"
"Yep!" Thomas responded enthusiastically, pulling Yvette into his arms. "Well, how’s my future wife today? Doesn’t she look especially beautiful?"
"..." Jas Black instinctively turned his gaze toward Jane Sampson.
He recalled how Jane had once blurted out her prediction that Thomas and Yvette would teach at the sa university and later get together.
Now, both things had turned out to be true.
Jas couldn’t help but doubt the other things Jane had predicted back then.
"I’m talking about my wife being beautiful—why are you looking at your little Jane like that?" Thomas raised his hand and delivered a playful but forceful punch to Jas Black’s arm.
"Because my dear Chief Black’s wife is also gorgeous," Jane said with a bright smile, her eyes curving into crescents. "Sister Yvette and I are equally beautiful."
"How is it that after becoming a big star, you’re even better at talking?" Yvette reached out and pinched Jane’s round, glowing cheek. "You work with heavy makeup every day—how is your skin still this good? Before New Year, I watched your live stream. No beautifying mode, just bare face. You must have had the courage of the whole world backing you up!"
As they chatted, the four of them walked into the hotpot restaurant together.
