Since Julie ntioned having a boyfriend, her later outings for dates beca sowhat more aboveboard. Sotis she wouldn’t even return ho overnight. Father Sampson had spoken to Julie a few tis, but she didn’t take it to heart. After a while, Father Sampson got tired of trying to intervene.
"Who else could it be? That bitch Nina Lee!" Julie clutched her face, her eyes practically spitting fire. "David Chip doesn’t even like her! Instead of reflecting on herself, why does she have to hit ? A woman like her, who resorts to violence and splits people’s heads open at the drop of a hat, is not gentle & considerate at all. What man would want her? David Chip likes ! What right does she have to stand in our way?"
"Nina Lee?" Father Sampson froze for a mont. "You got yourself entangled in David Chip and Nina Lee’s relationship?"
"What do you an ’entangled’? Dad, David Chip and I truly love each other. That’s why we’re together." Julie’s thoughts drifted to the things David Chip said tonight—those must’ve been said out of anger.
They must’ve been words spoken in anger.
Julie tried to comfort herself.
But even if they weren’t, what difference would it make?
Julie clenched her fists tightly. Nina Lee hit her, and David Chip mocked her. She would make sure those two paid for it!
David Chip said he wouldn’t marry her?
Fine! She would insist on marrying him now!
While Julie was scheming how to get her family to help her, she looked up—only to be greeted by Father Sampson’s palm landing directly on her face.
"You have the audacity to talk about it? Huh?" Father Sampson was shaking with fury. "So you’re the one who’s being called the mistress interfering in soone else’s relationship online? Wonderful! Just great, Julie Sampson! Becoming a mistress, and lying to us by claiming you had a boyfriend? Julie Sampson, I think your brain must have been slamd in a door for you to sink to such a disgraceful level!"
How could Father Sampson not be enraged?
Father Sampson thought Kendal Smith had been an excellent match back then. As a son-in-law, he initially felt Kendal didn’t have enough status, but later reconsidered when thinking about the Smith Family’s social standing. He realized Kendal Smith was well-suited to Julie—at least they were a match in social and economic status.
But that perfectly good marriage had been ruined by Julie herself.
Ruined? Fine, let it be ruined. When he learned Julie had found herself a boyfriend, Father Sampson didn’t interfere much. But had he known Julie’s boyfriend was David Chip, Father Sampson would have broken Julie’s legs before letting her step one foot beyond the ho doorway!
"You may not care about your reputation, but I have my pride!" Father Sampson clutched his heart, so furious he could barely speak.
He could almost foresee the mockery he’d face during socializing in the near future, people laughing at him for having a shaless daughter.
"If I’d known you were such useless trash, I wouldn’t have taken you back into the ho back then!" Father Sampson was so angry that he didn’t even want to spare Julie another glance. Late-night as it was, he turned straight away and stord out of the house.
Thinking about his inept wife and that biological daughter who only brought him disgrace, Father Sampson didn’t want to stay in that family for even one second longer.
It was only at this point that Father Sampson finally started to appreciate the goodness of Jane Sampson.
That daughter Jane Sampson had brought him so much pride from childhood to adulthood. She excelled academically, played the piano beautifully, was obedient, and always made him proud during parent-teacher etings. Other parents would envy him as he held Jane’s exam papers, which were always perfect scores.
At parent-teacher etings, the teachers would always speak with pride in their voices when praising Jane.
Although Julie later returned, Father Sampson no longer went to Jane’s class etings. Jane seed to grow up in the blink of an eye. Even so, complints about Jane had never stopped reaching his ears.
