"Little Jane!" Quincy Forest called out to Jane Sampson the mont she saw her, waving her hand energetically as a greeting.
"What a coincidence, you’re here too?" Jane Sampson exclaid in surprise before sitting down in the empty seat next to her. She then turned her head to look at Kane Forest, "Hello, Mr. Forest!"
Ever since Jane found out that Kane Forest was Mimi Wood in the ga and not Forest, her perception of him completely changed. The sense of distance she had felt before instantly evaporated.
Now, he seed more like an old friend. Even though Kane Forest still maintained a cold and indifferent expression, just thinking about how he was the warm and helpful Mimi Wood from the ga made Jane’s heart see him as a truly good person.
Kane Forest’s eyes lingered on Jane Sampson’s elated face for a few seconds before slowly shifting away. He responded with a faint "hmm," and his gaze moved from her face down to the back of her hand.
Indeed, she looked much thinner. From what Quincy ntioned, Old Sir Sampson’s passing had kept Jane up for several consecutive days. She had been staying by Granny Sampson’s side without taking proper rest. Kane couldn’t help but feel a trace of bla toward Jas Black, wondering why he hadn’t tried harder to comfort her or look after her more.
"I’m in charge of your styling for the publicity photos, while my brother’s company is handling the filming and other promotional coordination," Quincy explained, "We’re all old acquaintances here—here’s to a smooth collaboration!"
The Anti-Drug Office saw the collaboration among the three parties as composed of familiar faces, which made things easier. Everyone happily signed the contract together, then took a cheerful group photo with Jane Sampson, and the person in charge enthusiastically sent all three parties off afterward.
Rock Bell needed to return to the company, but Quincy pulled Jane and Kane along, insisting they find a place to grab coffee. Kane unusually didn’t decline and drove the three to a café with private rooms, where they reserved one.
The waiter approached with the nu. As Quincy flipped through it, she grinned instantly. "Brother, this restaurant isn’t cheap—you’re really bleeding money here."
"Just order whatever you want." Kane Forest sat upright and rebuked Quincy, before turning his gaze toward Jane Sampson.
Originally, he intended to express condolences, but seeing her and Quincy with their heads close together, poring over the nu, he decided to swallow the words back.
She had already moved forward on her own; there was no need to stir up her grief unnecessarily.
The two girls, being similar in age, naturally shared common interests and could easily connect. With the nu in hand, they spent a long ti chattering away, followed by bursts of unrestrained laughter.
Kane Forest had no idea what Quincy and Jane were laughing at. But seeing them exchange sneaky glances at him, Kane figured Quincy must have said sothing about him to Jane.
Sure enough, after a while, Quincy slamd the nu onto the table and playfully muttered, "Ti really flies. Who would’ve thought—it’s already ti for lunch in the blink of an eye. Jane, you say, even though it’s just 11 o’clock, it shouldn’t be considered too early for lunch, right?"
"Not at all, not at all. Once we order, it’ll probably take half an hour for the food to arrive. By the ti we start eating, it’ll be 11:30," Jane chirped cheerfully.
Quincy imdiately chuckled, "Brother, since we’re already here, we may as well stay for lunch, don’t you think?"
Kane glanced at Quincy’s sly grin, then at Jane Sampson sitting beside her, smiling mischievously like a little fox. He found himself in good spirits and nodded in agreent.
