Father Sampton glanced at Jane Sampson, then called the nanny to pour her a glass of juice. Seeing the indifference on Jane’s face, he felt a bit uneasy.
He wasn’t entirely sure if he could convince Jane on his own. Bright Sampton was clearly not going to side with Julie Sampton.
"The reason I called you back is to talk to you about sothing," Father Sampton said only after the nanny had placed the juice in front of Jane, "Julie Sampton is pregnant."
Jane didn’t touch the glass of juice, sitting there calmly as she let out a single "oh." "She’s pregnant, and that requires to be summoned back ho for it? Isn’t this the kind of thing you could’ve ntioned over the phone?"
Bright Sampton, sitting next to them, struggled to hold back his laughter. His sister was playing dumb while knowing exactly what was going on—acting was sothing she was highly skilled at.
"The child is David Chip’s, which you should know by now. The internet realm is full of people tearing into Julie Sampton. She’s just a girl caught between enduring online vitriol and a pregnancy—it’s not easy. A family, in tis of need, should help one another after all."
As Father Sampton spoke, his gaze never left Jane’s face, his tone turning solemn. "You’re Jas Black’s wife. If you can convince Jas Black, or Elder Black, to step in and help, Julie Sampson could marry David Chip, and these problems would all be resolved."
Jane Sampson slightly raised the corner of her mouth and responded directly, "Dad, when you left Grandma’s place, she already told about this. Grandma asked to pass a ssage to you—she doesn’t agree with helping Julie Sampson."
"Dad, you know Grandma’s word is law to my sister," Bright Sampton thought to himself, ntally applauding Jane while chiming in, "Dad, in Grandma’s eyes, my sister is the only granddaughter she recognizes. If you ask my sister to do sothing Grandma explicitly forbids, it would hurt Grandma’s feelings, and that wouldn’t be good. So, ultimately, this issue isn’t about my sister—it’s about Grandma. If Grandma changes her mind, then you can talk to my sister about it again."
Bright Sampton figured that, since Grandma had taken ownership of this matter, the cleanest solution was to push it entirely onto her disapproval.
But this ti, Bright miscalculated Jane Sampson’s temperant.
After Bright Sampson finished speaking, Jane imdiately laid out her stance.
"Even if Grandma hadn’t talked to about this, my answer would still be the sa—I won’t help Julie Sampson." Jane said firmly. "The Black Family is the Black Family. What does it have to do with her? The Black Family has no obligation to clean up Julie Sampson’s ss. Whatever situation Julie Sampson finds herself in, it’s her own doing."
Jane sat there with a cold smile and continued, "Considering everything she’s done to over the years—her repeated harm to this year alone, and the damage she’s caused Grandpa—I’m already holding back by not kicking her while she’s down, for the sake of us sharing the sa surna."
In recent tis, had Julie Sampson not tried enough petty sches against her? Even setting aside everything else—including Julie knowingly giving Charlotte Miller Jas Black’s mobile number while knowing Miller wanted to pursue Jas—it was for the incident involving Old Sir Sampton alone that Jane Sampson vowed never to forgive Julie Sampson in this lifeti.
"Julie Sampson, listen carefully: the Black Family owes you nothing. Don’t even think of dragging your selfish plans into the Black Family. Give up on that delusion. As for helping you, not a chance—not a single thing." Jane finished this statent and stood up directly. "If there’s nothing else, I’ve got work to attend to. I’m leaving."
