But Jas Black’s one sentence imdiately made Jane Sampson laugh.
On the phone, her laughter was soft, but it was genuine and real.
Jas Black let out a slight sigh of relief.
It’s good that she can still laugh—it ans she can still be cheered up.
Jane Sampson had no idea that Jas Black was currently on his way ho. She was sitting on the floor, chatting with him over the phone, holding her mobile phone in one hand while ordering so takeaway to try to vent her unhappiness with food.
She wasn’t willing to end the call with Jas Black and asked him if it was inconvenient for him to talk to her. After hearing Jas say it wasn’t, she felt reassured.
At this mont, what she wanted more was for Jas Black to be by her side, to hold her and give her a warm embrace. But she knew he was very busy. Still, being able to sit in their ho and hear his voice coming through the phone was already enough to make Jane Sampson feel satisfied.
The call lasted for more than half an hour, so when Jane Sampson heard a noise at the doorway, she thought it might be the delivery guy arriving. She quickly got up from the floor, intending to tell Jas on the phone that she’d go get the stuff, when she saw her front door being pushed open.
And the person who had been talking to her on the phone was now standing at the doorway, holding a phone and looking straight at her.
Jane Sampson froze in place, maintaining her pose of leaning on the table to get up, staring dumbly at the doorway.
"You?" Jane Sampson blinked her eyes, "Why did you co back?"
She was still holding the microphone. Only after seeing the person at the doorway smile at her did Jane Sampson put the landline phone back in place and dash straight toward the doorway, flying into Jas Black’s arms.
"Why did you co back?" Her voice was filled with delight and astonishnt.
Her two arms tightly hugged Jas Black, overwheld with joy.
"I was afraid you’d start crying all alone at ho." Jas Black rubbed the top of the woman’s head nestled in his arms, preparing to step inside with his slippers when the elevator dinged behind him.
Then, a delivery guy appeared behind Jas Black, staring blankly at the man and woman hugging at the doorway, and asked in a soft voice.
"Miss Sampson, your M’s Place takeaway has arrived. Please sign for it."

Jane Sampson practically jumped out of Jas Black’s arms!
This delivery guy—excuse , are you a devil?
Why would you suddenly show up at a ti like this!
Jane Sampson quickly grabbed Jas Black and pulled him inside, hurriedly saying, "Not mine! Not mine! What a coincidence, soone shares my last na."
Jas Black, of course, knew the score. Watching Jane Sampson fail to drag him and then bolting toward the room as if escaping for her life, a barely perceptible twitch pulled at the corner of his mouth.
"Um, Miss Sampson..." The delivery guy was left standing there in bewildernt, wondering what he had done wrong when the custor bolted suddenly.
"Give it to ." Jas Black took Jane Sampson’s takeaway from the delivery guy’s hands, watched him leave, then walked into the house with the bag of food. Closing the door behind him with a nudge of his foot, he opened the takeaway bag and peeked at its contents.
Spicy wings, chicken steak, a hamburger, and a cup of hot milk tea.
Alright.
Truly fantastic.
If he hadn’t co ho now, Jane Sampson would probably already be at ho, happily eating these with her feet up, wouldn’t she?
Jas Black threw the food directly into the trash can, then walked to where Jane Sampson was burrowed under the quilt like an ostrich. Tugging the quilt off, he said, "I’m tired, need to sleep. Don’t bother ." Jane Sampson guiltily closed her eyes, flailing her hands around to grab the quilt, and when she did, she draped it back over herself entirely.
