Rock Bell muttered this question to herself; a question she herself didn’t know the answer to, so naturally, Jane Sampson wouldn’t know either.
"Who’s this Charlotte King?" Jane asked casually.
Before her rebirth, Jane never paid much attention to the entertainnt circle’s affairs. After her rebirth, she had been busy every day and didn’t have the chance to focus on soone whose na sounded unfamiliar.
Up until now, she had never encountered Charlotte King at any event.
"Charlotte King’s been in the industry for four or five years, but it’s only in the last two years that she’s gained popularity. Her acting isn’t particularly exceptional, but insiders in the circle praise her for being very hardworking, willing to endure hardships, and having room for improvent. She started out as an extra, and the year before last, she played a maid in a drama with quite a lot of screen ti. Because she’s good-looking and her character stirred up a lot of hate, her popularity soared."
Rock Bell wasn’t at all surprised that Jane didn’t know Charlotte King. "During the ti you debuted, Charlotte King happened to have no works released. Apparently, she was on a six-month hiatus due to illness or sothing like that."
"Even though you’ve only been in the industry for less than a year, in terms of current standing within the circle, you’re way ahead of her. Even if she started taking on roles now, they’d still be supporting roles. In terms of looks, you outshine her; in terms of acting skills, you’ve left her miles behind." Rock Bell offered Jane a word of comfort. "Don’t worry too much—I’ll go find out what’s going on over there."
"I’m not worried, just curious," Jane replied with a smile. "Thank you for taking the trouble, Sister Tin."
After saying this, Jane hung up the call. At that mont, Jas Black walked out of the bedroom and stood at the doorway, glancing toward Jane’s direction. He stepped over and reached out to gently press down the strands of her hair that were sticking up, his voice low as he asked, "Did you order the takeaway?"
Jane shook her head honestly, "No, I was just on a call with Sister Tin."
Grinning with a flash of her teeth, Jane shifted the responsibility onto Jas with a playful smile, "You order it."
With that, she grabbed her mobile phone and plopped herself down on the sofa, crossing her legs as she flipped through her phone book. Then she made a call to a familiar lawyer.
What Jane wanted to discuss with the lawyer was transferring all the company shares she currently held under Father Sampson’s na back to him. This sort of thing required the lawyer to prepare the necessary docunts.
Jas stood where Jane had originally been sitting, listening to her conversation with the lawyer. He waited two minutes before picking up his phone to order the takeaway. As it happened, just as he finished ordering, Jane wrapped up her call as well.
After hanging up the call, Jane sat there and let out a faint sigh. Jas walked over, poured her a cup of hot water, and pushed it in front of her.
"Once you’ve returned the shares, I’ll transfer so of my assets over to you," Jas said. "So you’ll still have money to buy whatever you want."
"I don’t want yours," Jane pouted. "I don’t want yours—I’ve got my own money to buy whatever I like. I also have work! If sothing’s too expensive and I can’t afford it..."
She had intended to say, "Then I won’t buy it," but the words twisted in her mouth. When she opened her mouth again, she shalessly added instead, "Then I’ll ask you for it, and you’ll buy it for !"
After saying this, even Jane felt embarrassed and wrapped her arms around Jas’s arm, giggling mischievously, "You promised, I have you."
Her smile was sweet and vivacious, clearly ant to charm him—a little flattering, a little coy, yet irresistibly cute. It didn’t make her seem greedy at all.
Jas grunted softly, evidently in a good mood.
