Having asked all she wanted to, Jane Sampson was ready to hang up the phone when Jas Black called out to her and suddenly asked, "Did you see your auntie today when you went back to the Black Residence?"
"I did, both my auntie and uncle-in-law were at ho. Oh! And I ran into grandfather there!" Jane couldn’t help but burst into laughter as she ntioned this.
The sound of her laughter was infectious; anyone could tell she was very happy.
Jas’s expression, however, gradually darkened. Had Old Sir spoken to her about divorcing him? Was that why she was so cheerful?
"When grandfather saw the tea leaves in my hand, he asked if they were for him. I said no, and I don’t know where I got the courage from, but I just grabbed the tea leaves and ran, hurriedly got into my car and left."
After saying this, Jane sighed, "Ah, I finally mustered the courage to go back and apologize to grandfather, but because of a box of tea leaves, I ended up running away again. But since I’ve done sothing wrong, I need to go back."
"Did grandfather say anything else to you?" Judging by the way Jane was talking, Jas wasn’t sure if Old Sir had ntioned the divorce to her.
It’s possible that Old Sir hadn’t had the chance to get angry upon seeing the tea leaves because Jane had taken off so fast, so there probably wasn’t much opportunity for him to say anything to Jane.
"He said..." Jane hesitated for two seconds, then pursed her lips, "He said I was dreaming if I thought I could divorce you."
That was said in exactly the sa tone as Jas himself would have used.
Jas was surprised for a mont, since Last ti he saw Old Sir, he was still pressuring him to divorce Jane.
Regardless, Old Sir’s words—"in your dreams"—were enough to put Jas at ease.
"You think about what would be nice to prepare for grandfather tomorrow. I’m going to go make tea eggs now, bye."
With a "bye," Jane didn’t give Jas another chance to speak and ended the call.
On the other side, Jas, holding the mobile phone and listening to the buzzing sound coming from it, couldn’t quite make out what he was feeling at that mont.
It was the first ti he so disliked the busy signal on the phone.
He kept telling himself to be more patient and forgiving with Jane, but it seed like Jane still wasn’t ready to grant him any extra patience.
Jane wasn’t without patience.
She just felt that Jas lacked it.
She thought Jas was the type of person who didn’t like to be disturbed at work, who didn’t like his wife constantly calling and bothering him, so once the serious talk was over, she hung up the phone, believing she was being very understanding.
After organizing the eggs from the box into the refrigerator, Jane cheerfully tossed several dozen eggs into two pots.
This was a sudden inspiration for Jane. She prepared two pots—one to boil with the tea leaves Jas had just had sent over, the other with the tea leaves she had taken out for a walk in the morning and brought back ho.
Wasn’t Jas saying Old Sir really liked these tea leaves? But Old Sir couldn’t drink this tea; it would hurt his stomach.
What to do when you want to drink it, but you can’t?
Jane didn’t see this as a big problem, so she ca up with the idea to boil tea eggs with those tea leaves and give them to the old man. This way, Old Sir could taste the flavor of the tea leaves and get so nourishnt from the eggs as well.
To ensure the tea eggs thoroughly absorbed the flavor, Jane specially cracked them after they were cooked and put them back in the pot to soak for a long ti.
Busy with this task, she ended up ordering takeaway for lunch. By 3 in the afternoon, after tasting a tea egg boiled with the tea leaves Jas had sent over, she imdiately fell in love with her own culinary skills.
