"Mr. Carter, have you had breakfast?" Jane Sampson exchanged pleasantries with Jas Carter as she bent over to get into the car, pondering in her mind why today Mr. Carter seed sowhat different.
It seed like the way he looked at her and his tone of speech was as gentle as coaxing a child.
Jane hadn’t finished her sentence when she suddenly felt a sharp pain at the back of her head as she sat down on the chair, instinctively protecting the back of her head and yelping, "Is my hair caught on sothing?"
"Sorry, my hand accidentally pressed it." Jas Carter quickly released his hand from supporting the car, revealing several strands of hair in his palm, "Does it hurt a lot?"
Jas Carter’s face showed a bit of guilt.
"No worries, Mr. Carter, I’ve got tons of hair, you won’t make bald with such little strength." Jane waved it off, took a rubber band out of her pocket and tied her loose hair into a low ponytail, then scooted further inside to make room for those who hadn’t gotten in yet. Jas Carter took two steps back, leaning on his cane, and let Coco Edwards board first, then said, "Hang on, I just rembered there’s sothing I need to tell the assistant, give two minutes."
After speaking, Jas Carter gave the assistant a look, and the assistant followed him for a few steps to a deserted spot.
With his back to the car, Jas Carter took two plastic bags from his pocket, one already containing several long hairs and the other empty.
Jas Carter carefully put the hairs he had held for just a few minutes into the empty plastic bag, then solemnly handed it to the assistant, "Make sure to keep it safe, don’t mix it up, and send it for DNA testing imdiately, no matter the cost, using the fastest thod, and as soon as the results co out, send them to ." Jas Carter said, "As for your flight, see if you can reschedule to a later flight. If not, you can co tomorrow."
"Okay." The assistant, who had been with Jas Carter for a long ti, didn’t quite understand his actions, but was undoubtedly discreet and trustworthy.
Watching the assistant put the stuff into the briefcase and then walk off hurriedly, Jas Carter’s heart finally started to feel suspended.
The other strands of hair in the plastic bag were from the mother who visited the grandparents and Old Sir Carter in the Capital Province a few days ago.
Jas Carter, even before dawn today, had specifically made a detour to find them from that house. Luckily, they had just left the Capital Province, and the house hadn’t yet been cleaned by the hourly worker, so in the bedroom bed of his mother’s room, Jas Carter easily found quite a few hairs.
As Jas Carter knew, a paternity test result can co out in about three hours.
Which ant that as soon as his plane landed, he would imdiately see the result.
"Mr. Carter, where did your assistant go?" Coco casually asked when she saw Jas Carter returning alone.
"I left sothing important in the apartnt and sent him to fetch it. I was worried he wouldn’t make the plane, so he rescheduled his flight. We’ll go ourselves first."
Jas Carter explained with a faint smile, then jokingly added, "Lately I’ve been sowhat forgetful."
"It’s definitely because you’re overworked." Jane, in the car, comnted with concern, "Mr. Carter, you must rest more as well, or lack of sleep will genuinely make you less sharp."
