Rock Bell isn’t like Nina Rice, chatting with Jane Sampson for no reason. The studio is over there, and Rock Bell is busy like a spinning top every day, so if he’s making a call to Jane Sampson, there must be sothing up.
"There is indeed sothing," said Rock Bell. "I thought we were fast on our side, but the director over there is even faster; they’ve actually found your stand-in."
"Huh?" Jane Sampson was dumbfounded.
"But luckily, the contract hasn’t been officially signed yet. Jas Carter called the director just in ti to stall it. Otherwise, if it were ten plus minutes later, the contract would have been signed already." Rock Bell felt it was really Jane Sampson’s luck.
If the contract had been signed, then how would they manage?
"The girl is a newcor, recomnded to the director by soone. She’s previously done so magazine work, three centiters shorter than you, skinny and fair. At first glance, she does look a little bit like you." Rock Bell continued, "Which is why the director saw her and decided to go with it right away."
Talking about this, Rock Bell suddenly laughed inexplicably, "Saying this might be a bit unkind, but really, who knows whether it’s the newcor who’s unlucky, or if it’s you two who are a bit unlucky."
"What do you an?" Jane Sampson was rarely hearing Rock Bell laughing so gloatingly.
"This newcor is surnad Carter," Rock Bell chuckled over the phone, "Hear that surna and get it?"
"Jillian Carter?" Jane Sampson blurted out, "No way! Approached her?"
"No, no," Rock Bell shook his hand repeatedly, "This girl bears her mother’s surna. Her mom has so distant tie with the Carter Family, but the relation is quite far. Still, technically speaking, you guys are relatives, and Jas Carter says that by generation calculation, this girl should call you dearest madam."
After Rock Bell said that, Jane Sampson burst out laughing herself.
"Am I of such a high rank?" Jane Sampson was almost laughing to death with the dearest madam term, "My grandniece?"
"Relatively speaking, yes, though it’s already one of those far-flung kinships that aren’t even qualified to visit the Carter Family during holidays." Rock Bell knew all this because Jas Carter had told him.
"Because of that tiny bit of blood relation, probably you two really do resemble each other just a little bit. But I saw the photo, and if you really wanna say how much, it’s just two points’ worth of resemblance. That girl’s gaze hides too much stuff, unlike your pure one which feels soothing."
Rock Bell said, "Jas Carter heard that this girl’s agency has already figured out how to make her an overnight sensation. They want to use your ’accident’ to generate so buzz and make her debut as the Little Monkey King Jane. To make her resemble you more, her agency even arranged for plastic surgery to boost her two points of likeness to seven or eight points."
This is sothing that insiders are used to. A newcor trying to rise quickly must have a topic to talk about. To rapidly build popularity, then they must find ways to create buzz, right?
But as Jane Sampson’s family and friends, just thinking about this girl trying to use Jane Sampson for stunts to debut makes anyone feel disgusted.
Thankfully, Jane Sampson is fine.
If Jane Sampson had actually been hard and turned into a deceased person, then this girl and her company would be stepping on the shoulders of the dead to rise up—that wouldn’t be even more revolting?
And exactly because of this agenda, this newcor and her company are trying desperately to get the stand-in role for Jane Sampson in "The Sound and Shadow."
