"I don’t know how much bride price we can get. Didn’t our son say he’s marrying a soldier? "Who’s scamming you? Look for yourselves! First class cabin, isn’t it five thousand eight per person, and there’s fuel surcharge and all sorts of other costs too!" the chubby boy exclaid dismissively, "Am I soone who settles for sothing as petty? Do you think I care about tens of thousands?"
The chubby boy had never worked a day outside, never earned a cent, and his bank card had never held more than a 500-bucks balance. But at this mont, thinking about soon having 100 million in cash, the chubby boy couldn’t care less about these ten thousand or so.
Father Chip looked troubled, "Where am I and your mom going to get that kind of money?"
The couple was generally lazy, living a "three days of fishing, two days of nets drying" kind of life. If there’s a thousand left after paying rent, that’s considered fortunate.
Moreover, he’s fond of wine; even if he has five bucks left, he’ll head to the crossroads small grocery store to buy a bottle of beer.
Father Chip turned to his wife and asked, "How much money do you have, give it to our son."
Mother Chip promptly sat down on the ground and started crying bitterly, "You two are killing ! I manage the rent, feed and clothe both of you; where would I have money?"
Mother Chip had a few hundred left, but she wouldn’t easily give up the cash she had in her pocket.
