"Good evening, Chief Black!" Jane Sampson picked up the mobile phone, sat down on a chair, and gave a bright smile to Jas Black in the phone, "Haven’t seen your lovely Mrs. Black all day, do you miss her a lot?"
Jas Black was sitting in his office, looking at Jane Sampson through the mobile phone, listening to her playful words, and couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
Last night, she wasn’t by his side, and without his octopus-like wife holding him to sleep, Jas Black indeed felt a bit unaccustod.
When he woke up in the morning, he instinctively reached out to grab the person next to him, only to find empty space, which startled him into sitting up imdiately, calling Jane Sampson’s na twice, and then he realized that Jane Sampson had gone abroad.
"Dry your hair, and we’ll talk while you do." Jas Black noticed that Jane Sampson’s hair was still dripping and slightly furrowed his eyebrows.
It’s a pity he wasn’t next to her; otherwise, he could have helped blow dry her hair.
Jane Sampson was lazy, and sotis it showed in the bad habit of not blow-drying her hair imdiately after washing it.
Jas Black didn’t speak much, so in one video call, it was mostly Jane Sampson chattering away.
Jane Sampson was a little chatterbox, while Jas Black was a good listener.
He cared about Jane Sampson, so he would ask if she was tired from sitting on the airplane for more than ten hours, whether she liked her dinner, and whether she bought anything she liked while shopping in the evening.
These little things in life were part of Jane Sampson’s chatter, which she found amusing, and Jas Black listened very attentively.
Sotis, he would respond to her a couple of tis.
This conversation seed to be just a few topics, but it actually lasted for more than an hour.
Until Jane Sampson’s mobile phone battery was running low and started frequently warning of low battery, Jas Black urged Jane Sampson to put the phone down to charge and dry her hair before ending the video call.
On her end, Jane Sampson obediently followed Jas Black’s advice and went to blow-dry her hair.
Jas Black then sent a text ssage to Brooke Black, asking if Brooke had rested yet.
After Brooke replied, Jas Black called her directly.
It wasn’t about anything else, just purely to ask about the results of Jane Sampson’s afternoon examination.
Jas hadn’t asked Jane Sampson on the phone earlier, because he knew her character was to report only good news and not worry others.
Even if there were any bad things, Jane Sampson wouldn’t tell him.
She didn’t want anyone to worry about her or to cause any trouble for others.
So, Jas Black simply didn’t ask Jane Sampson.
Brooke Black relayed the dean’s words to Jas Black verbatim and then said, "Your wife seems happy and carefree the whole day, smiling at everyone, while her younger brother almost cried when he ca out of the consultation room hugging her."
"Jas, be good to your wife, be more accommodating to her, and don’t argue with her, got it?" Brooke Black couldn’t help but speak a few good words on behalf of Jane Sampson, "Such a pretty girl, encountering such a thing, and never letting anyone see when she’s upset. As a girl, knowing she’ll have a scar on her body, it’s hard for her in her heart."
"Hmm." Jas Black’s heart sank slightly as he responded with a hum.
Jane Sampson had scheduled a scar repair surgery for ten o’clock the next morning. The three of them arrived at the hospital at 9:40, finding Julie Sampson and Mother Sampson already waiting there.
