The cuteness was so irresistible that Jane Sampson really felt the urge to pinch the young girl’s cheeks.
"Sister, you’re a star, aren’t you? I’ve seen you on TV!" The young girl seed thrilled, having discovered a little secret, "My daddy is a star too!"
It was only after the young girl said this that Jane Sampson took a closer look at the father she had overlooked. With one glance, she recognized him.
"Shirley..." Seeing Shirley Young gesture to her with a ’shh’ sign, Jane Sampson changed the latter part of her call to a more respectful title, "Teacher."
Jane Sampson really couldn’t imagine a well-known actor like Shirley Young eating in a small shop like this with his daughter, especially since he was dressed very down-to-earth, wearing a tracksuit just like those out for early morning exercise.
However, his face was still very recognizable, and what surprised Jane Sampson was that Shirley Young was sitting in this corner, yet not a single other patron in the shop seed to notice him.
"Sit down." Shirley Young smiled at Jane Sampson.
But probably because he often played serious roles, his presence still felt as authoritative to Jane Sampson as it did on the screen.
Jane Sampson knew Shirley Young because of his fa, so after sitting down, she politely introduced herself.
Shirley Young listened intently to Jane Sampson introducing herself, even setting down his chopsticks. After she finished speaking, he smiled and said, "Actually, I know you. I’ve signed up for Director Wilson’s new drama, so we will be collaborating soon."
"Are you the male lead?" Jane Sampson asked.
Given Shirley Young’s position, it could only be the male lead, so Jane Sampson felt her question was rather silly.
"I am not that much older than you, so you don’t have to keep using ’you’ in such a respectful way," Shirley Young said to Jane Sampson with so resignation.
The young girl vigorously nodded at his side, "Mom says dad doesn’t like it when people make him feel old."
The corners of Jane Sampson’s mouth twitched imperceptibly. To be honest, without the young girl’s explanation, she hadn’t realized that Shirley Young felt that being addressed with ’you’ made him feel old.
The little miss was truly daddy’s little padded jacket.
"The little miss is so cute." Jane Sampson happily complinted, and still reached out to pinch the little lass’s round, chubby cheeks, which felt just as good as she imagined.
"Thank you for the complint, sister!" The young girl smiled with a pair of twinkling, watery eyes.
Although Jane Sampson hadn’t heard when Shirley Young got married or that he already had such a grown daughter, they weren’t old friends close enough for private matters, so it was not her place to pry.
In their circle, actors secretly getting married and having children was nothing unusual.
"Having breakfast so early, do you live nearby too?" Shirley Young struck up a conversation with Jane Sampson.
"Yes, just next to Central Sea." Jane Sampson did not see any reason to keep her whereabouts a secret.
"So sister and we are neighbors!" The young girl’s eyes lit up, "We also live here! We are in Building No. 9, which building are you in, sister?"
"No. 5." It turned out to be quite the surprise. The residential community was large and buildings No. 9 and No. 5 were so distance apart, which explained why she had lived here for so long without ever running into Shirley Young.
"It’s indeed quite a coincidence. We should invite you over to our house so ti," Shirley Young smiled, then patted his daughter’s head, and said to Jane Sampson, "My daughter’s mother is a teacher, loves to sleep in, so she didn’t co down for the morning exercise."
