"..." Gwendolyn Young thought that she wasn’t really concerned whether Jane Sampson’s husband’s unwanted son had t her son or not.
What worried her was, what would she do if her son fell for a married woman, and moreover, one who was married to a mber of the guard team?
Jas Carter Sr. fell silent, because he realized that Jane Sampson was nowhere near being in a romantic relationship with his son; they were simply friends.
It was probably a misunderstanding on his wife’s part.
"I knew it." Gwendolyn Young sighed.
She knew that such a nice girl wouldn’t possibly be single, waiting for her son to co along.
Gwendolyn Young felt a twinge of regret inside. It was so rare to find a girl who matched her son so well in terms of being a couple, but, as it turned out, she was already soone else’s.
Only then did Jane Sampson belatedly realize that there might have been a subtle misunderstanding between husband and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Yang. Even after learning that Jane was just a friend to Jas Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Yang didn’t beco distant toward her; after all, Jane was one of the rare friends Jas would bring ho.
After eating dinner, Jas Carter Sr. returned to the guard team, and Gwendolyn Young had to leave before two o’clock as she had sothing else to do. Jane and Jas Carter didn’t leave imdiately but followed him into his study to practice piano for a while.
With Jas Carter next to her, Jane picked up the pace much faster. In just one afternoon, she had recaptured the feeling she used to have.
Dinner was prepared by Jas Carter himself. Having tasted Gwendolyn Young’s handiwork at noon, Jane had thought that Mrs. Yang’s cooking must be the best in the house.
Only after tasting Jas Carter’s cooking did Jane realize that the apprentice had outdone the master.
After finishing the al, Jane was so stuffed she could hardly move a step, practically collapsing on the sofa while sneakily rubbing her belly.
"Did Mr. Carter specifically study culinary arts? How can he be so good?" Jane turned her head to ask after Jas Carter had finished washing the dishes and ca out from the kitchen.
"During those years abroad when I had nothing better to do, I dedicated my mind to mastering this," Jas Carter fetched so stomach-soothing digestive tablets and handed them to Jane, "You might need these."
Jane wanted to cover her face out of embarrassnt.
After taking the digestive tablets, Jane walked around the living room for a bit until she felt much better. When she was getting ready to head back to the hotel, her mobile phone started ringing.
Once she saw the caller, only three words flashed through Jane’s mind.
Dood!
Done!
For!
How could she forget Jas Black?!
He had told her to call him after getting off the airplane, and she had completely forgotten! She hadn’t rembered him at all this ti!
If Jas Black was calling her at this ti, it must be because he had grown impatient, even angry from waiting!
Picking up the call, Jane instinctively straightened her back.
"Hello~" Jane answered in a tiny voice.
"Did the airplane you’re on fly around the whole day without landing until now?" Jas Black’s voice was very cold.
"No," Jane replied.
"So your airplane has been taxiing at the airport without stopping since it landed?"
"That’s not it either." Her voice grew weaker and weaker.
"Oh, then is it that you got lost at the airport exit and haven’t left the airport till now?" Jas Black’s voice beca colder and sharper.
Jane twisted her mouth. The guy had obviously lost his temper, asking three piercing questions in a row.
"Sorry, I accidentally forgot," Jane decided to apologize with the most sincere attitude.
However, after her apology, she heard the buzzing sound on the other end of the phone.
Yep, Jas Black had hung up.
