Jane Sampson knew Jane wouldn’t hand over her mobile phone voluntarily, so Jas Black took matters into his own hands and retrieved it from her clothes pocket after watching her put it there while she was waiting for her cake.
"Let’s go ho," Jas said as he pinched Jane’s bright red fruit phone and slid it into his pocket, then carried the shopping bags towards the underground parking lot of the supermarket.
He didn’t need to look back, not the least bit worried that Jane, without her wallet and mobile phone, wouldn’t obediently follow.
Jane didn’t say a word the entire way, and it wasn’t until the car stopped at the doorway of the Black Residence that she started longing for Jas’s trouser pocket, itching to try and snatch her phone back.
She had thought of doing so midway, but Jas was driving, and she was afraid of death.
Now, well, Jane felt she probably couldn’t snatch it from Jas.
"Let’s discuss sothing," Jane tugged at Jas’s sleeve as he was preparing to get out of the car, "Can I have my phone back? I swear I won’t buy any more snacks."
"Didn’t you already buy all your snacks?" Jas chuckled and then said, "Get out of the car."
Clearly, there was no room for negotiation. After Jane got out of the car, huffing with her stuff and not looking back as she entered the house, Jas finally parked the car in the garage and leisurely got out to carry the shopping bags inside.
Because of the phone and wallet incident, Jane was quite angry, so once inside, she hid the snacks she had managed to keep and, after going downstairs and seeing Jas just entering, she huffed and ducked into the kitchen to help Aunt Nanny cook.
Jane’s culinary skills were fairly good; before her rebirth, as long as Jas was ho, she would prepare a delicious al. However, usually when she was alone at ho, her laziness remained unchanged; outside of putting on airs and graces, she opted for takeaway.
Aunt Nanny tried to persuade Jane to rest in the living room, but seeing she couldn’t be swayed, she happily got busy in the kitchen with Jane, both talking and laughing. Bridging the gap of age, they had endless fun discussing cooking and which dishes to prepare.
Jas stood at the kitchen door listening for a while before he walked away, quite surprised; apparently, Jane was indeed quite a talkative person. Before, she always seed especially introverted and reluctant to speak around him. An entire evening with him at ho, and if he didn’t speak, neither would she.
As for her smiles, there were so, but they were slight. At that ti, he thought it was just her demure nature, but now, in retrospect, it was nothing but a façade.
Old Master Black tid his return just for the al, his hands clasped behind his back, humming an old tune as he entered. He had spent the morning wiping out an old friend in chess and took the opportunity to flaunt the fact that his family would be gathering for a al tonight.
"Where’s Jane?" Old Master Black entered and saw Jas sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper, the first thing he did was to look for Jane.
"In the kitchen," Jas replied.
As Jane ca out with the dishes, she heard Old Master Black’s question and answered, "Grandfather."
Old Master Black glanced at Jane, wearing an apron, and grunted, then walked towards her, saying, "Old Young’s granddaughter also ca back to spend the weekend with him today. Old Young’s bristling with pride, he might as well fly to heaven with that beard of his! Just because of a granddaughter? Look at how plain she is. Although I don’t have a granddaughter, I have a granddaughter-in-law, two of them in fact. Just picking one at random would outshine his granddaughter by miles."
