Jane Sampson took two steps forward as told, and was about to speak when she saw Jas Black suddenly lean down and kiss her on the lips.
It was like a dragonfly skimming the water, just a light touch, and then he bit her lip gently before letting go.
"Go on up," he said, rubbing her forehead gently with his hand and then pushing on her back to signal her to move upstairs.
Jane Sampson stole a glance at the tall man behind her, standing right where his shadow fell on the ground, stepping on his shadow.
Her toes scuffed the ground, and a few seconds later, she lifted her foot to step out and went upstairs.
After running up to the second floor, Jane Sampson, as if led by so ghostly force, went out to the passage to look down and saw Jas Black still standing there without moving. He even looked up at her, prompting Jane to quickly pull her head back and then hurry back to dormitory.
Jane Sampson didn’t know when Jas left; when she returned to the fourth floor, she didn’t dare peek again, irrationally fearing that he might still be standing there.
Yet she also feared that he had already left without a trace of lingering.
Worried about waking the other three, Jane moved lightly as she entered, but to her surprise, except for Hibiscus Wood, who was already asleep, Mair Williams and Charlotte Miller were both still awake.
"Why did you go out for a breath of fresh air and only co back now?" Mair Williams sat up from the bed and asked, "Charlotte Miller and I were just saying that maybe you got lost and couldn’t find your way back."
"I did get lost for a while," Jane said earnestly, nodding her head. "The guard team’s area is too big, and it was dark. While walking, I got lost."
"Did you later run into Brother Soldier, who guided you back?" Charlotte asked casually. "If you get lost in the guard team’s area, don’t worry. Keep walking, and you’re bound to run into soone on duty. By the way, did you find your way out when you went?"
"Mhm," Jane nodded, responding while changing into her pajamas in the bathroom and climbing onto her bed.
"What did you eat?" Mair touched her stomach. "I’m hungry too."
"Scored a cup of milk," Jane said. She had thought about sneaking so biscuits or sothing back for the three of them, but Jas hadn’t found any biscuits.
"How did you score that?" Mair’s spirits lifted. "I want to learn."
Seeing how earnestly Mair was asking, Jane’s expression paused for a mont.
By connections?
Definitely not sothing she could admit.
After thinking it over, Jane replied, "By charm."
Mair Williams and Charlotte Miller burst into laughter, "That’s impressive, truly. To get a cup of milk by charm, and not misusing your talent."
Obviously, Mair Williams and Charlotte Miller both took Jane’s comnt as a joke, and after their laughter subsided, they didn’t ask any more.
But Jane thought, if you really analyze it, her answer wasn’t entirely false.
She relied not just on beauty but also actually on her body!
She got a bowl of noodles and a cup of milk from Jas, and in turn, Jas got her.
Well, this deal had no flaws.
So before sleep, the question Jane was contemplating was whether she should go, or not go, to find Jas tomorrow night?
Jane Sampson was awoken the next morning by the sound of voices, her own alarm clock that she had brought from ho, no larger than a palm, had not yet rung. Looking at the three who were already sitting in front of the mirror, patting layer upon layer of skincare products on their faces, Jane tugged at the quilt and buried her whole head under it.
"Ti to get up, or you’ll miss breakfast and go hungry again all morning," Mair called to Jane. "Even though we can’t wear makeup, skincare still takes ti."
