Charlotte Miller at this mont looked at Julie Sampton and thought she was a fool, to have handed over such a good husband to a foster daughter.
"By the way, how is the relationship between your brother-in-law and that foster daughter from your family?" Charlotte Miller asked again.
"Not sure, I’ve heard he’s been with the guard team all year round, only able to co ho once or twice a year." This was the fact that Julie Sampton knew; indeed, Jas Black usually lived at the guard team headquarters, with the new house primarily occupied by Jane Sampson alone.
Therefore, although Jas Black had a high status and a good family background, Julie Sampton had never felt that marrying Jas Black and living a life akin to a widow was anything enviable.
To this day, she felt fortunate that it wasn’t her who married Jas Black in the end, but Jane Sampson.
Such a husband who was hardly ever ho was the sa as not having one at all; once he would co ho, one would have to face such a cold and icy man. Just the thought of it terrified Julie Sampton.
"If he’s hardly ever at ho, then their relationship must be bad, right?" The smile on Charlotte Miller’s face grew more unrestrained, "So the woman he was hugging in the elevator just now is his little sweetheart, huh?"
"What?" Julie Sampton was taken aback, "You’re saying he was hugging a woman in the elevator?"
"Yes, when I ca out, I looked back inadvertently and noticed that the woman standing next to him was together with him, and his hand was wrapped around her waist, looking very intimate. It’s a pity, though, the woman was wearing a mask, glasses, and her hood was pulled down low; I couldn’t see her face to know if she was good-looking or not. However, judging by her figure, she had a nice body," Charlotte Miller chuckled softly, "Wonder if his little sweetheart is more beautiful or if I am."
Julie Sampton’s mind wasn’t on what Charlotte Miller was saying, but on the fact that Charlotte had ntioned Jas Black hugging a woman, which shocked Julie Sampton.
With a mask, glasses, and a hood—nowadays, apart from the increasingly famous Jane Sampson, who else would need to be fully disguised to go out?
If Jas Black and Jane Sampson’s relationship wasn’t that good, why would they appear here together?
Charlotte Miller tugged at the silent Julie Sampton and suddenly asked, "Right, they ca down from the 4th floor in the elevator, didn’t they? The 4th floor is the Maternity Departnt, isn’t it? Do you think your brother-in-law’s little sweetheart could be pregnant? Otherwise, why would she hide herself so well, and why would a man instinctively wrap his hand around a woman’s waist if not to declare his ownership or subconsciously to protect her? Maybe she really is pregnant."
"Pregnant?" Julie Sampton’s heart skipped a beat, "Could it be they were visiting their friend?"
"You see, that woman was wearing flat shoes, and her clothes and pants were all loose-fitting; maybe she really is pregnant. Otherwise, what young girl doesn’t like to dress up in beautiful dresses and pretty high heels?" Charlotte Miller felt more and more convinced by her own speculation.
After speculating, Charlotte Miller felt even more annoyed.
Had she known back then, while at the guard team, she should have had the audacity to cozy up to the young Chief.
If Charlotte Miller had t the young Chief earlier, perhaps today it would be she who was pregnant. And with her capabilities, she would certainly have found a way to make Jane Sampson, the foster daughter from the Sampton family, give up her position as the chief’s wife.
In Julie Sampton’s mind, only one word now dominated: pregnancy. Was Jane Sampson pregnant?
