"Let’s not chitchat since the important matters are discussed," Jane Sampson tossed Jas Black’s phone back into her purse. "My arm is getting sore from holding it up."
Every movent, every word, she was trying her hardest to hide the fact that she did sothing behind Jas’s back that he should not see.
Just as Jane was trying to find a topic to divert Jas’s attention, the front doorbell suddenly rang.
Jane quickly stood up, "I’ll get the door!"
Whoever it was at this mont, they were her savior.
"Mr. Carter!" Jane opened the door and imdiately smiled upon seeing Jas Carter standing in the doorway, murmuring to herself that Mr. Carter really was her lucky star, arriving just in ti.
"All you see in your eyes is your Mr. Carter, not seeing your Brother Young?" John Young joked as he walked over from behind Jas Carter.
"Brother Young is here too!" Jane was relieved to see that John Young, despite what had happened last night, had not distanced himself from her. "Co on in."
"How did you know I live here?" Jane ushered them in and then called out to Jas in the living room, "Jas, Mr. Carter and Brother Young are here to visit you."
Jas had already stood up and nodded to the guests when he saw them.
"You look and seem much better now than yesterday when you just ca out of the surgery room," Jas Carter said, relieved to see Jas’s improved condition. He could tell that Jas was putting on a brave face to comfort Jane yesterday just after the surgery.
"Mr. Carter and Brother Young, please sit down, I’ll go and pour you so tea," Jane greeted them and then turned to run into the kitchen.
However, before the water for tea had even boiled, the front doorbell rang again.
Coco Edwards had just left to buy stuff for her and hadn’t been gone long, so it was unlikely to be her.
When she opened the door and saw the Forest Family siblings standing outside, Jane wasn’t surprised.
"We were planning to visit the hospital this afternoon, but we heard that Jas had been discharged, so we ca here directly," Alexander Forest didn’t wait to be invited in, he took off his shoes, put on slippers, and walked into the living room.
But halfway through, he turned back and called out to Jane, who was talking to Quincy Forest, with a voice that wasn’t quiet at all, "Little Jane, since Gary Black injured his hand, I specially went to the supermarket and bought a big pig’s trotter to nourish him. I’ve always heard from the seniors that you eat what you need to heal, so Little Jane, hurry and make Gary Black so pig trotter soup."
As soon as Alexander uttered these words, a backrest ca flying towards him from where Jas was.
Jas had said that he could handle Alexander with just one foot, and this wasn’t an overstatent.
"Little Jane, don’t mind my brother; he’s nuts," Quincy Forest said, palm to her forehead. "Do you know how crazy he is? If he had just bought the pig’s trotters, it would have been fine, but he specifically bought the whole front leg of a pig at the supermarket, insisting that Jas injured his entire hand so he needed a whole trotter to heal."
Quincy hadn’t finished speaking when Jane had already opened the heavy bag Alexander handed her, and she was speechless for a few seconds at the sight.
"Jas injured his hand, not his foot," Jane couldn’t help but speak up in defense.
