And then, to protect herself, to protect the people of her family and clans, she began to grow stronger step by step, transforming from a non-confrontational person into one ruthless and heartless, gradually losing her sense of self.
In the end, she beca a pitiful and very hateable person, driven by power and authority.
Jane Sampson finished cooking and brought the lunch from the kitchen up to the third floor to call Jas Black to co downstairs for the al.
The person who had said he would stand outside to calm down returned on his own shortly after Jane went back to the bedroom to look over a script.
When he saw Jane busy, he went straight to the study until Jane ca upstairs to call him before he erged.
"You can’t carry stuff or flip through books, so what were you doing in the study all morning?" Jane asked Jas curiously while serving the al.
"Nothing much," Jas responded indifferently, his gaze lingering on Jane’s hands holding the bowl and chopsticks. Then he spoke again, "I need to go out this evening. Don’t wait for for dinner; go ahead and eat. I will be back a bit late."
"You’re going out?" Jane exclaid in surprise, scrutinizing Jas’s bandaged hands, and asked, "Are you sure? You want to go out looking like this?"
"Yeah," Jas nodded.
"Alone? Do you want to accompany you?" Jane offered, "I haven’t got much going on lately, wherever you need to go, I can co with. It’s quite boring for alone at ho when you’re not here."
"No need," Jas answered swiftly. "Alexander Forest will pick up in the evening; I’ll go with him."
After answering, Jas added a reminder, "We are strangers in this place, don’t go wandering off. Also, there are a lot of reporters out there looking to dig up your news, so don’t go out while I’m not ho."
Seeing Jane pout reluctantly and then reluctantly respond with an "Okay," Jas then said, "I’ll only be out for two or three hours; I’ll be back soon."
"Alright," Jane agreed with a nod.
Jas had a trait that Jane deeply admired; he wasn’t picky about food.
Because of this, cooking for Jas and feeding him was, in fact, quite easy for Jane.
After lunch, Jane dragged Jas back to the bedroom for a nap, completely ignoring his disgruntled expression. She ca up with a very appealing excuse, telling him that more sleep would help his hand heal faster.
The sumr afternoon is undoubtedly a season fit for sleep.
Lying on the soft bed, with the cool air conditioner blowing and holding the sturdy Jas, Jane lay there smiling, as cheerful as could be.
"I have a question for you," Jane tugged at Jas’s pajamas and began to speak, "Were you angry this morning?"
Jas glanced at Jane and closed his eyes without any intention of answering what was obviously a question intended to provoke him.
Seeing Jas’s reaction, Jane secretly smiled to herself, didn’t press the issue further, draped her legs over his, and closed her eyes. In no ti, she fell into a deep sleep.
Jas waited until the breathing of the person beside him was light and even before reopening his eyes. He turned his head to see Jane already deeply asleep.
For a while, Jas murmured with a hint of amusent, "Heartless." His voice was so soft it was almost nonexistent.
After speaking, he adjusted his position and lowered his head to kiss the forehead of the woman he had just criticized for being heartless a second earlier.
