Jas Black gave Alexander Forest a cool glance, and silence suddenly fell over the driver.
Finally, it was quiet.
There was a bit of traffic on the road, and the two of them didn’t arrive at the auction venue until nearly 6 o’clock.
The auction event was held at an exclusive private club, which covered a large area. Tonight, the club had suspended its business to the public, only admitting guests with invitations to the auction.
The entire clubhouse was under strict security, inside and out.
"It seems there are so good things here tonight," Alexander Forest looked around and comnted, "Look at the security system’s protection level, it’s quite high."
"These are top dostic security professionals, and the electronic security systems they use are also the most cutting-edge technology," Jas Black said, "Tonight there are several antiques up for auction."
"Did you co tonight with a specific target in mind?" The invitation was Alexander’s, but he had not originally planned to attend.
It was Jas Black who had called him this morning, which led to the two of them turning up here.
Since Jas Black had taken the initiative to co, it was not difficult for Alexander to guess that there was sothing here that Jas Black wanted.
"Yes," Jas Black nodded, "One of the antiques, and not a burial object."
"You sure know a lot," Alexander muttered, "Aren’t most antiques excavated from those places? Besides, antiques are valued so highly, who cares whether or not they are burial objects?"
"It’s a gift, and burial objects are inauspicious," Jas Black replied succinctly.
Alexander was baffled, "Are you concerned about the heavy yin energy from where they co from? Besides, with such antiques, who would carry them on their person? Antiques are definitely stored directly in a safe or displayed in a cabinet sowhere."
Jas Black did not continue to answer Alexander’s questions. In his view, he wanted the object for the person he intended to give it to, to see her using it.
That was the greatest aning behind giving a gift.
The two entered the venue, and since they arrived late, the left-side mini banquet hall next to the main venue was already filled with many people.
Alexander Forest, the boss of a sizable company and a mber of the Forest Family, was a familiar face due to his constant socializing at these types of events.
As soon as he and Jas Black walked in, many people ca over to greet him, casting curious glances at the tall man next to him with bandaged hands.
Wondering who this person could be, they thought the man couldn’t possibly be Alexander’s assistant or bodyguard, as they would recognize Alexander’s assistant.
"President Forest, who is this gentleman with you? Won’t you introduce us?" soone asked, raising a glass to Alexander.
Alexander turned to look at Jas Black, whose face was expressionless, and imdiately understood what Jas Black intended.
"My friend, Mr. Black," Alexander said.
The people next to him were waiting for Alexander to say more, but after nearly half a minute without further introduction of Mr. Black’s identity, the expressions of those around them gradually changed.
This was tantamount to tacitly acknowledging that there was no notable background to introduce, so they only ntioned the man’s surna.
Everyone had thought that those associating with Alexander would also be princes from the Capital Province’s high society circles, but to their surprise, it was an ordinary person. The crowd’s curiosity and enthusiasm for Alexander’s friend, Mr. Black, quickly waned.
After fending off a round of people, Alexander finally found a mont to whisper to Jas Black, "These people both want to befriend the nobility and lack the insight to recognize an opportunity. Even if given the chance, they couldn’t take off, pfft."
