Alexander Forest sat there watching Jane Sampson and Jas Black eat their al in an intimate turn-taking manner, feeling as if his heart was aching all the way up to his eyes.
"Cough, cough." In order to catch the attention of the two people who were so absorbed in each other, Alexander Forest gave a fake cough. Seeing Jane glance his way, Alexander Forest smiled and casually moved his chair back to its place.
Knowing that Jas Black was annoyed with him at the mont, Alexander Forest weighed his words carefully.
After so thought, he figured that the only way to avoid conflict with Jas was to help cheer up little Jane.
It took Alexander Forest nearly a minute to co up with an idea.
"Little Jane, I have sothing to tell you," Alexander Forest said cheerfully, "Just now, Jas and I went to an auction event, and do you know what Jas got for you..."
Alexander Forest’s voice suddenly stopped, replaced by the sound of both him and the chair crashing to the floor. Lying on the ground and facing Jas Black’s black face, he was utterly flabbergasted.
What the heck! What did he say wrong this ti? Jas’s danger level had shot up alarmingly.
"What auction event?" Jane Sampson imdiately latched onto that important piece of information, "You and Jas went to an auction event this evening?"
Still lying on the ground and not daring to move, Alexander Forest glanced at Jas and after a few seconds of scrutiny, he tentatively nodded, "Uh-huh, yes."
Having said that, Alexander Forest breathed a sigh of relief.
He was still alive, fantastic.
He wanted to go ho now. Having a friend who could turn his mood so drastically was too terrifying.
This place wasn’t safe; he had to go ho to his mother.
"Did Jas take you to the auction to carry out so special mission?" Jane asked innocently, "Like the thrilling kind they show on TV?"
Only then did Alexander Forest bother to get up from the ground. He picked up the chair and sat back down in his original spot.
In this hot weather, to be honest, Alexander Forest really wouldn’t have minded staying on the cool floor for a while longer.
However, hearing the question Jane asked, Alexander Forest absolutely had to sit up to mock Jane up close.
"Do you think the guard team is so short on people that they’d send soone half-crippled to execute a mission? Or that Jas is so lacking in n that he’d take along soone like , who’d only slow him down?" Alexander Forest threw two rhetorical questions back at Jane.
"That makes sense," Jane nodded, then followed up with another question, "So the two of you just went to have fun?"
"Sort of," Alexander Forest nodded, "But..."
"Shut up," Jas Black, unable to tolerate it any longer, uttered these three words at Alexander Forest.
Alexander Forest was stunned for two seconds, then it dawned on him that Jas might not want to tell Jane Sampson just yet, planning instead to surprise her with it later.
So Alexander Forest quickly nodded, then zipped his lips with a gesture, bowed his head, and continued eating in silence.
"But what?" Jane Sampson pressed on.
Alexander Forest shook his head and said nothing.
"You really just went for fun?" Jane Sampson asked again, directing the question at Jas this ti.
Jas nodded, "Mhm."
He thought Jane was worried about him going out for tasks, and so he admitted it right away.
Little did he know that the next second after he had answered, Jane’s face would change completely.
"You go have fun and don’t bring along!" Jane accused Jas, "You take Alexander Forest with you and leave at ho all alone, and you don’t take to have fun!"
Jane withdrew the hand she had stretched out to feed Jas, swallowed the bite herself, and, huffing in anger, put the bowl down on the tabletop with a thud.
