So she knew he was upset about the Twitter stuff and tried hard to please him?
"You go wash your hands, and then we can eat," Jane Sampson said, oblivious to what Jas Black was thinking, and served him a very dutiful-looking plate of food, even dishing up a bowl of rice for him.
Jas Black stood there for two seconds before going to wash his hands, then settled next to Jane Sampson at the spot next to her.
No matter why Jane was trying so hard to please him, Jas had to admit that one aspect of Jane, her culinary skills, was beyond reproach.
When he returned ho every three to five months, what he looked forward to was probably the bountiful table of delicious als that the dutiful Jane would prepare for him.
After Jas sat down, Jane eagerly served him vegetables and soup. However, with every move she made, she would glance at his face, and each ti, quite coincidentally, she found Jas staring at her.
After several instances, Jane herself started feeling nervous under his gaze.
"Why aren’t you eating? Why are you staring at ?" Jane raised her hand to touch her face. "Is there sothing dirty on my face?"
"No, there isn’t," replied Jas as he picked up so beef with his chopsticks and chewed slowly. After swallowing, he suddenly said, "It’s just that your face reads ’ulterior motive’."
While drinking her soup, Jane almost spat it out.
Was it that obvious?
"Tell , what is it about?" Because she ca, Jas’s mood had been sowhat subdued, so he had the patience and temperant to talk to her in such a tepid manner.
Jas was waiting for Jane to explain about the Twitter issue, waiting for her to tell him how to prevent such things from happening in the future. "It’s not really a big deal." Jane swallowed her food and silently added a chicken wing to Jas’s bowl before saying, "Didn’t I tell you this afternoon that I was almost certain about the female supporting role?"
"So, you prepared this al specifically as a celebration?" Jas asked. "Your celebration banquet?"
What the hell?
Jane shook her head repeatedly. "No, no, just getting a supporting role isn’t occasion for a celebration banquet."
Is that how flighty I, Jane Sampson, am?
"Then, did you prepare this al to thank for helping you?" This was Jas’s second guess after the Twitter issue.
Jane’s expression froze, and she reflexively asked, "Should I thank you?"
Seeing Jas give her a sharp look, Jane quickly offered him a big, natural smile and said, "Thank you!"
"Hmph." Jas snorted coldly, probably the least sincere thank you in the world.
Yep, that was his wife.
Jane was used to the occasional snorts or scoffs from Jas. So used to them, in fact, that she could ignore them completely.
Even though she didn’t know what he was scoffing at this ti.
"Jas, I wanted to discuss sothing with you. You see, once I join the film crew, the role is quite substantial. The director ntioned that besides filming in the Capital Province’s film and TV town, there will be a lot of outdoor scenes shot in other provinces. He said it could take two or three months to complete, and it seems it will be set in Cloud Province, which is far from the Capital Province. So, I was thinking, for these two or three months, could I perhaps not co ho every month? Maybe I could spend these next two days with you at the guard team more, and then maybe then you wouldn’t have co back every month . . ."
