Chapter 926: Letting Loose
Asher watched Kimberley walk away and sighed, his Omni Perception already notifying him of a lot of people about to walk toward him from all directions. Asher couldn’t help but sigh yet again. Unlike Kimberley, he didn’t need to meet with anyone at all to boost some family value or net worth and whatnot. For the Wargraves, power was their own currency, and that was all that truly mattered.
Still, Asher decided to meet as many of these people as he could. After all, he had been a fan of a few celebrities back in the day, like movie stars and footballers (soccer), so he sort of understood how these people felt.
With that, Asher turned around. He asked people their names, took their pens, signed his name on clothes and different parts of their belongings, posed for pictures, and chatted with anyone who approached him with genuine excitement.
He then decided to enjoy the love and support he received rather than run from it, as long as there was no one making some outrageously weird demand or confessing their love for him.
He made various poses for the cameras, wore funny expressions for the shots, carried children on his back or on his shoulders like he had carried Rachael earlier. He even used Astra energy to make some people float while they took pictures in midair, creating unforgettable memories that left them laughing in amazement.
Although Nobles always acted with a certain decorum, Asher didn’t need to force himself to act that way. Since he was with the lower class, who didn’t walk around carrying peacock-like pride, he blended in perfectly.
After all, the Wargraves didn’t have issues with whatever their descendants did with their lives, as long as it wasn’t anything extreme, like killing thousands of people, or even hundreds, for sport or simply for the love of the game.
So, Asher let loose.
“GO!” “GO!” “GO!” “GO!” “GO!” “GO!” “GO!” “GO!”
The crowd of moners and merchants gathered around Asher chanted as one of the moners who had attended the gala challenged him to an alcohol-drinking petition. If the man won, Asher would give him one of the shirts he had worn, plete with his signature.
Asher drank shot after shot of alcohol. It was as though these drinks were made of nothing but pure spirit. Asher could also guess that the man who had challenged him seemed to possess some sort of alcohol-resistance ability or something similar. But alas, the metabolism granted by the Absolute Physique was ridiculous. Besides that, with Asher’s personal strength, his alcohol tolerance was already sky-high.
The next moment, the challenger became dizzy and passed out as his own ability reached its limits.
“WOAH!” “ASHER!” “WOAH!” “ASHER!”
They chanted Asher’s name as though watching him drink for sport was the greatest entertainment imaginable.
“PUSSY!” “WEAKLING!”
They called the guy who had challenged Asher to a drinking petition and lost after a few drinks, but it was all harmless men’s banter, as every man there knew none of them truly meant it.
Asher couldn’t just leave someone passed out on the ground, so he simply bent down, touched the man’s head, and let crackling purple Lightning race gently through his brain and body. The man’s eyes snapped open, clarity instantly returning as he woke up pletely sober and perfectly fine.
Another person came with an outrageous request this time. They wanted Asher to sign his body, but not with a pen or any sort of ink. Instead, he wanted Asher to carve his own name, not Asher’s, into his flesh using flames or lightning.
It was certainly an outrageous request, but after thinking about it, Asher decided to do it. Lightning crackled around his right index finger as he immediately proceeded to write the man’s name across his forearm with almost perfect calligraphy. Of course, he held back as much as possible to dull the pain. Afterward, he used Light to heal the man’s burn injury while intentionally leaving the name itself untouched.
Although it seemed Asher and the man had made an impulsive decision, whenever the moner wanted, he could easily remove the scar by meeting a random person with a healing ability, as the scar was small and hadn’t been caused by any deep injury.
With that, Asher and his group of new friends turned a small part of the hall into a dance floor as he and a few of them went crazy dancing together. Dance moves from their era and various different styles were displayed one after another. Asher even demonstrated dance moves that had once been popular back on Earth throughout different generations and years but had gradually faded away as newer trends replaced them.
Asher had practically never let loose like this since his transmigration. Every noble event he had attended was filled with etiquette, formalities, and restraint. As for any foolish Noble who looked down on him for acting this way with moners or for not behaving in a manner befitting their Noble class, Asher simply couldn’t care less.
At the various corners of the grand hall, the Nobles could only watch from afar with a hint of jealousy they would never openly admit. Watching Asher let loose without a care for public image stirred a strange yearning within many of them.
Some whispered bitterly among themselves, saying that the Overlord had permitted rats into the building and into Noble events, and look at what they had done. Others quietly berated the moners, none of them daring to criticize Asher despite him doing exactly the same things as the people they mocked.
But at the end of the day, the moners knew nothing about any of that. They were simply having a good time with someone they might never see again in their entire lives. Besides, how could one be bothered by hatred and gossip if they were pletely oblivious to it?
A lot of moners were surprised by Asher’s carefree and approachable demeanor. After all, he was a Noble, and a Wargrave on top of that, a family whose members rarely formed close friendships with outsiders. Seeing him dance, sing, drink, make weird poses, and pull funny expressions for the cameras truly made people feel that the saying, “Never meet your heroes,” simply didn’t apply to Asher.
But of course, there was a limit to everything. After enjoying himself and spending time with the moners, Asher excused himself with a smile before quietly walking away.
Astra energy coursed around his body, eliminating the smell of alcohol and sweat that might have clung to him during the dancing and various displays of fun. Asher smiled as he sat down on a chair. Truly, he was satisfied with the enjoyment he had experienced.
If only these Nobles could climb down from their high horses and see what they were missing, the simple bliss of living in the moment, letting loose, and enjoying the fruits of their hard work every once in a while.
But alas, the only way many Nobles seemed to know how to let loose was by sleeping around with various women in different brothels.
Asher bent the surrounding light photons around his body, rendering himself pletely invisible. After all, not all fans were respectful of other people’s privacy and personal space. Even if Asher had spent the past two hours with them, some simply wanted more of his time.
So, remaining invisible was the only answer for now, unless he started walking beside someone of significant status whom they wouldn’t dare approach, like Kimberley. Despite not being an awakener, the Elox name alone was enough to deter most moners.
With that, he enjoyed a few moments of peace while music echoed throughout the hall as the moners excitedly discussed among themselves the dance moves Asher had supposedly “invented.”
moners who hadn’t won the lottery to attend the gala could only click their tongues in jealousy as they watched videos across social media platforms of their fellow lower-class citizens dancing with a Wargrave and even drinking with him. Many silently vowed that if such an opportunity ever presented itself again, they would do everything within their power to secure an invitation, if only to experience even a fraction of the unforgettable memories those fortunate attendees would carry with them for the rest of their lives.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: I tried to make Asher interact with moners on a basic level. I hope I didn’t butcher it.
Also, I released 3 chapters, so there is a 3rd one after this. Please press next.
