The sum of money involved was vast, so the matter couldn’t be resolved by morning. Ordinarily, a new date would be set. However, both parties were so impatient to finalize the divorce that the court decided to continue in the afternoon and conclude matters.
For lunch, both parties chose restaurants near the courthouse and, once again, they bumped into each other.
Gu Anxi was dining with his mother, Granny Chen, and Feng Mian.
Feng Mian didn’t look much like a seasoned attorney. He was quite interested in the developnts between Little Ma and Bo Xichen, especially since recently, when Little Ma stayed over at the Bo residence, Bo Xichen had returned to sleeping in his own original bedroom. Feng Mian was inwardly exclaiming. This developnt is too rapid!
Granny Chen glared at him. "Young man, eat more and talk less."
Feng Mian was stunned. What a formidable old lady! Seeing how close she is with Gu Anxi, and even Wang Keru seems a bit afraid of her, she must have so hidden status.
anwhile, Qin Han was dining with his daughter and Shen Wanqing. Since the incident that night, Shen Wanqing didn’t dare to converse much with the Qin family mbers. She ate in silence, feeling quite dejected.
"Dad, Grandfather surely has a way to turn the tide. You should stop worrying," Qin Siling earnestly comforted her recently divorced father.
Qin Han looked indifferent. "I know. Director Wang and Grandfather go way back."
Qin Siling’s expression relaxed. "That’s good."
Shen Wanqing listened silently, thinking, the Qin family... still wields great power and influence. I must hold onto Qin Siyuan tightly, no matter how difficult. As long as I don’t say anything, no one will know what happened that night. I’ll just pretend it never happened...
While they were eating, Old Mr. Qin was exhausting himself running errands.
He had rushed to everyone in Qingcheng who might have influence with the court, including his old comrade, Director Wang.
Most of the replies he received were evasive. So claid it was inappropriate to interfere in personal affairs. Others stated that current strict regulations wouldn’t permit it, or even that his requests were pushing them into an impossible position, lanting, "Old brother, you’re backing into a corner!"
His good old buddy, Director Wang, was the most infuriating. He spoke cryptically, advising Old Mr. Qin to take care of his health and not lose his temper so easily, implying that the path ahead might be tough.
Old Mr. Qin was so angry his nose felt crooked. Are these people gloating over my family’s misfortune? It’s just a divorce! Does everyone have to kick us while we’re down?
Just as Old Mr. Qin was fuming, Bo Xichen was sitting at his desk in his office at Yunxi Hospital, his slender fingers flipping through docunts. Then, his phone rang.
He picked it up. "How did it go?"
The person on the other end respectfully reported, "Mr. Bo, all arrangents have been made throughout Qingcheng."
Bo Xichen chuckled lightly. "Well done."
Encouraged by the praise, the person went on to describe Old Mr. Qin’s undignified state in detail. Bo Xichen rely lowered his gaze and said, "The law is impartial. Qingcheng is not a place where the Qin family reigns supre."
The person on the phone readily agreed. After a few more words, the call ended.
