Now reading: Chapter 335 - 336: Awesome! What my aunt said was really gre from Campus Ace Girl, a Fantasy novel by Fairy Elfie.

Grandma Chen finished her coffee, gently putting it down.

Then she turned to Gu Yuanshan and sneered, "The ss you’ve created, and now you don’t know how to fix it. Don’t you feel humiliated?"

Gu Yuanshan lowered his head.

Grandma Chen continued, "Don’t you understand the current situation? It’s absolutely impossible to invite the Bo Family now. You’ve offended them. When they say they won’t co, their word is final and won’t be changed. Otherwise, what’s the difference between that and farting?"

Gu Yuanshan repeatedly agreed.

Gu Ning chid in with flattery from the sidelines, "Auntie certainly has foresight! Truly worthy of our Gu family."

Grandma Chen glanced at her, then made her main point. "This isn’t about inviting the three great families to the Gu family’s feast anymore. Now, we need to get an invitation to the Bo Family’s banquet!"

Gu Yuanshan was shocked. Tang Yuan couldn’t accept this. Gu Ning also rose slightly.

Then, Gu Yuanshan voiced his thoughts, "Auntie, where is this coming from? Isn’t this undermining our own prestige?"

Grandma Chen took a sip of her tea. "You must think I’m saying this because I favor Anxi. Heh. I just can’t bear to see the Gu family beco a laughingstock. Think about it: none of the three great families are coming to your event, and the other two are going to the Bo Family’s banquet instead. Isn’t it blindingly obvious they’re taking sides?"

Gu Yuanshan’s Adam’s apple bobbed. "But we don’t need to beg them!"

"If you don’t beg, do you think they’ll deliver an invitation to your door? Gu Yuanshan, do you think you have that kind of standing, or does your ’good wife’ have that thick a skin?" Grandma Chen was relentless.

Gu Yuanshan was shaken for a long ti before he managed to say, "This is too... far too..."

Just then, Gu Ning spoke up, "Brother, the Bo Family has already sent invitations to the other two families. Our Gu family hasn’t received any."

"Not a single one?" Gu Yuanshan was aghast.

He had initially wanted to subtly demonstrate his strength, but the Bo Family had been unyielding, directly causing him to lose face. What could he do now?

Gu Ning idly played with her fingernails. "Well, I have one."

Tang Yuan slowly spoke, "Then let Aunt Ning represent the Gu family."

Gu Ning waved her hand. "Sorry, this one was given to personally by Big Rabbit. It represents ’Da Hui’s Little Fairy,’ not the Gu family."

She then let out a TSK, slapping her thigh. "What if the entrance to the Bo Family’s banquet has a sign saying ’No Gu family mbers or dogs allowed’? Have you thought about that, Sister-in-law?"

Tang Yuan was furious.

Gu Yuanshan, however, knew that just sending Gu Ning wouldn’t be enough. Bo Nianyao was clearly trying to show him so teeth, using this event to rap his knuckles.

So he once again humbly implored Grandma Chen, "Auntie, given this situation, what should I..."

"If you can’t afford to offend them, then beg," Grandma Chen sneered. "Take your disappointing wife with you. It was her ’good deed’ that offended Mrs. Bo this ti. After all this ti in Beicheng, don’t you know what kind of person Lin Yun is? Do I still need to tell you? Back in the day, she was soone who feared no one."

She paused, then looked at Tang Yuan. "So people are all show and no substance. If she had possessed even a tenth of what others do, she wouldn’t have discarded her own daughter like so cursed demon child. Changqing wouldn’t be estranged from the family, and the three siblings would be close and harmonious. If that were the case, I ask you, which family in Beicheng could possibly compare to the Gu family then?"

Gu Ning clapped. "Auntie, you’ve said it perfectly! Every word hits the mark."

Grandma Chen clearly enjoyed this bout of flattery; the corners of her mouth curled up slightly as she sipped her tea.

Tang Yuan’s mouth twitched, finding herself in an incredibly awkward position.

Grandma Chen sneered, "What, still not convinced?"

Gu Yuanshan pondered for a mont. "What Auntie says is absolutely right."

He sighed. "I’ve been astute my whole life, but I’ve clearly muddled things this ti."

Then, he looked at his wife. "Tang Yuan, get ready. We’re going to Si Garden imdiately."

Tang Yuan truly didn’t want to go and grovel. She had beco Mrs. Gu precisely to feel superior. Now, having to beg others, how could she possibly bring herself to do it so suddenly?

Seeing her hesitation, Grandma Chen sipped her tea and said softly, "It’s fine if you don’t go, you know."

She stood up. "Yuanshan, I’ve overstayed my welco. The Gu family today isn’t the Gu family of the past. An old woman like can’t even get a word in edgewise anymore; the younger generation doesn’t listen to what I say."

Gu Yuanshan was alard. He knew this Old Aunt was currently the only person who could speak on their behalf to the Bo Family. If she left, what leverage would he have to make his plea?

He begged and pleaded, "Auntie, please, how about this: you co with us. I hear Anxi is closest to you. If you talk to her, perhaps this whole affair can be smoothed over."

Grandma Chen sneered. "You scoundrel, such wishful thinking! Did I painstakingly raise her all these years just so she could put in a few good words for you?"

Her sharp gaze swept over Gu Ning. "You, co here."

Gu Ning scampered over. "Auntie, what are your esteed instructions?"

Grandma Chen stretched lazily. "Do you have any spare guest rooms at your place?"

Gu Ning bead. "There are seven or eight suites available: Thai-style, French-style, English-style, Japanese-style... I wonder which style you’d prefer, Auntie?"

Grandma Chen’s eyes widened, then she said lightly, "I’ll take them all. I’ll sleep in a different one each day."

"Alright! A different one each day," Gu Ning was impeccably attentive, her delicate hands already kneading Grandma Chen’s shoulders. "Oh my, your shoulders are so tense! I’ll find the best therapist in Beicheng to give you a proper massage later!"

"Is there a large bathtub?" Grandma Chen wiped her nose.

Gu Ning imdiately replied with care, "One that seven or eight people could swim in without a problem."

Grandma Chen stared at her. "That’s too extravagant!"

Gu Ning instantly offered to have it all taken away...

Then Grandma Chen whispered, "But... I like it."

Gu Ning froze. Grandma Chen then added, "I also want hand-ground coffee."

After they left, Tang Yuan looked at Gu Yuanshan. "Yuanshan, is the situation really this dire?"

She didn’t quite believe it.

Gu Yuanshan sighed. "Every word Aunt Gu Rong said is true. If everyone attends the Bo Family’s event that day, and our Gu family doesn’t even have the right to be there, then the Gu family’s standing in Beicheng will truly be precarious."

Shen Congwen chid in, "Exactly. The Bo Family is hosting a banquet because soone new has joined them. This is indeed more pressing than our routine feast. If we forgo our event and attend theirs instead, it will make us appear magnanimous and gracious."

"Congwen is right." Gu Yuanshan toyed with his thumb ring, making a decision. "Have the car prepared. I’ll go to the Bo Family personally."

He looked at Tang Yuan again. "Go and get ready quickly. This is sothing the two of us absolutely must handle."

Tang Yuan lowered her gaze and, after a long pause, whispered, "I’ll go change my clothes."

She went upstairs. Gu Mingzhu was on the second floor; seeing Tang Yuan’s expression, she called out softly, "Mom."

"Mom’s fine," Tang Yuan patted her hand. "Just focus on managing the film project. You don’t need to concern yourself with adult matters."
