Gu Ning looked at her suspiciously, unsure of her capability.
But at this mont, Tang Yuan was full of confidence. Although being Mrs. Gu had granted her prestige and respect from others, securing Jing’s agency rights would indisputably elevate her status among the high society ladies of Beicheng. Then even this sister-in-law would be overshadowed by .
With this thought, Tang Yuan confidently replied, "Rest assured, this matter will almost certainly be settled."
Gu Ning’s expression lightened slightly. "Alright, I’ll place my trust in you this ti."
Having finally sent that pest off, Tang Yuan couldn’t help grumbling to her husband, "Yuanshan, look at Gu Ning. She doesn’t take seriously at all. Working under her is like being her lackey."
Gu Yuanshan also thought his sister was sowhat overbearing, so he softly consoled his wife, "Didn’t we discuss this? The agency for Anpu Company was arranged by you. After it’s announced publicly, who in the company would dare to look down upon you?"
These words delighted Tang Yuan, and she involuntarily broke into a smile.
The next day, Gu Yuanshan purposefully took Tang Yuan with him, believing more voices would help the conversation. Of course, Shen Congwen’s presence was a given.
Zhou Yunchen attended the eting as planned.
Throughout the gathering, Zhou Yunchen, with his brilliant words and remarkable deanor, had even made the haughty Tang Yuan smile.
The atmosphere was indeed pleasant.
However, when Gu Yuanshan deed the atmosphere ripe and brought up the matter of Jing, Zhou Yunchen feigned surprise. "This is news to ! It’s nonsensical not to do business when the door’s open."
With that, he imdiately dialed Anpu Company.
Gu Yuanshan gave Tang Yuan a triumphant smile.
Tang Yuan, for her part, was incredibly satisfied, feeling they had chosen the right collaborator.
Just then, however, she noticed Zhou Yunchen’s brow furrow. He exchanged a few more words with the person on the other end and then hung up.
Gu Yuanshan sensed sothing was amiss and asked, slightly tense, "Brother Zhou, don’t tell you’re dropping the ball now!"
Zhou Yunchen took an aggressive drag from his cigarette before saying, "You’ve offended soone."
"What?" Gu Yuanshan was puzzled. Tang Yuan, at his side, composedly interjected, "Mr. Zhou, you might not be aware of the Gu family’s standing in Beicheng. Aside from the Bo Family, the Gu family isn’t one to make enemies."
Zhou Yunchen exuded masculinity as he blew a smoke ring. "The owner of Anpu Company."
Gu Yuanshan exclaid in shock, "What? How can that be?"
Zhou Yunchen’s expression was sowhat irritated. "Our company’s behind-the-scenes boss is from Qingcheng. Truth be told, I’ve never t him; we’ve only ever spoken on the phone. But there’s soone who not only knows him but has a very solid relationship with him."
Gu Yuanshan imdiately asked, "Who is this person? Mr. Zhou, please point us in the right direction."
The Gu family desperately needed Jing, which couldn’t be sourced internationally anymore. To be told now that they’d offended soone was truly baffling.
Zhou Yunchen sighed. "It was my mistake too. I had initially thought that Zhang Niuniu was just a logistics manager—to put it bluntly, a re cargo hauler. I never imagined he was practically royalty at Anpu!"
He threw his hands up. "Alright, now this ’royalty’ has been locked up in jail by you. What are you going to do?"
Both Gu Yuanshan and Tang Yuan were stupefied.
What? That hoodlum was a key figure at Anpu?
It took a while for Gu Yuanshan to regain his composure. "This is too absurd."
Zhou Yunchen wore an expression of feigned helplessness. "I was caught off guard too! One call and the big boss is furious. Not only will he refuse the agency rights, but he also wants to cut off the Gu family’s supply. Mr. Gu, it seems you’ve really stirred up a hornet’s nest this ti."
Pondering for a mont, Gu Yuanshan’s expression turned cold and stern. "Brother Zhou, do you think there’s any room to turn things around? That Mr. Zhang indeed disrespected my daughter, and the Gu family cannot possibly let him off lightly. Otherwise, wouldn’t I be a spineless father?"
Zhou Yunchen picked up a glass and toyed with it. "Well, I’ll try to put in another good word for you. If it doesn’t work, then it’s up to you to decide what to do next."
Having said that, he made to stand up and leave.
Gu Yuanshan, feeling like he was being roasted over a fire, couldn’t let Zhou Yunchen leave so easily.
He quickly stopped him. "Let Congwen see you out!"
"Oh?" Zhou Yunchen turned, his eyes clear and sparkling with a masculine charm.
Shen Congwen silently rose and escorted him out. Zhou Yunchen didn’t refuse.
Watching them depart, Tang Yuan asked in a soft voice, "Yuanshan, what do we do now?"
Gu Yuanshan muttered, "That bastard Zhou! Congwen is his classmate, yet he shows him no courtesy. He might not be able to make the final call on the agency rights, but he could surely get his hands on a small amount of Jing. But look at him, so unyielding. He clearly just doesn’t want to help!"
Tang Yuan couldn’t help but complain, "Then why did you let Congwen see him off?"
Gu Yuanshan closed his eyes slightly. "There’s no harm in Congwen seeing him off. Besides, I noticed Congwen seems to hold him in high regard."
Tang Yuan was still sowhat fearful. What if they really couldn’t acquire Jing? Would she really have to resign? She couldn’t lose this lucrative position; she absolutely had to find a way.
anwhile, Shen Congwen was seeing Zhou Yunchen off, the two walking one behind the other down the corridor. The restaurant was extrely private, and the corridors were usually empty.
Suddenly, Zhou Yunchen spun around and, with a swift movent, had Shen Congwen pinned against the wall.
The back of Shen Congwen’s head slamd against the wall, a sharp pain shooting through it.
Zhou Yunchen glared nacingly. "Stop following . I don’t want to see you acting like a dog."
Shen Congwen’s eyes glistened faintly. "And you’re not? Zhou Yunchen, we’re two of a kind."
Zhou Yunchen gritted his teeth. "Getting bold, are we? Why didn’t you dare expose in front of Gu Yuanshan?"
Shen Congwen turned his face away, remaining silent.
Zhou Yunchen sneered. "Just afraid I’d kill you, right?"
He released him, adjusted his own clothes, and snorted coldly. "Rember, I have a hundred ways to kill you. Don’t you dare piss off."
"Is that so?" Shen Congwen lowered his gaze and chuckled lightly. "Zhou Yunchen, aren’t you the one who’s been provoking all along? You deliberately hinted that you worked for Gu Anxi, clearly relishing in seeing squirm with indecision and tornt. And now you say *I’m* the one provoking *you*?"
With that, he threw a punch, landing it squarely on Zhou Yunchen’s forehead.
THUD! Zhou Yunchen slamd against the wall.
"YELP!" he cried out, groaning in pain before snarling through clenched teeth, "You bastard, you actually hit !"
Shen Congwen stepped forward, mimicking Zhou Yunchen’s earlier move to pin him against the wall. "I just want to tell you, I’m not so little girl, nor am I so weakling. Stop ssing with !"
But his show of strength lasted only a few seconds before Zhou Yunchen twisted his arm behind his back, then forced him into a headlock from behind.
Zhou Yunchen easily subdued him with one hand, then casually lit a cigarette with the other, blowing a thick cloud of smoke towards Shen Congwen.
Shen Congwen, a refined man, squeezed his eyes shut in discomfort.
Zhou Yunchen gave a low, cold laugh. "Is that all you’ve got?"
He held Shen Congwen with one arm, smoking with his free hand, occasionally exhaling a puff of smoke towards him, looking very much like a languid lion.
