"Not a word about this to anyone else." King Jingyao’s voice was low and heavy.
As his chief secretary and close aide, the man understood his aning imdiately and spoke cautiously, "If that’s the case, Mr. King, you..."
King Jingyao spoke coldly, "What could I possibly do? What can I do to that little bastard?"
The secretary remained silent, sensing his boss’s bad mood.
Being in this position and feeling manipulated certainly wasn’t pleasant. Especially for soone like Mr. King, who had shown few weaknesses over the years and was now being troubled by this newcor.
After venting his anger, King Jingyao felt a little better. He closed his eyes and said, "I don’t want to see that brat around for the next few days."
Although he had dispatched Anna for the day, he knew she would not back down that easily.
The value of that confidential contract was imasurable.
Moreover, who knew what other secrets it held?
Having said his piece, King Jingyao ended the discussion and returned to his office in his car.
Working late into the night was commonplace for a man of his status.
No sooner had he settled down than a young secretary delivered a file, saying, "This docunt just arrived this evening."
The Chief Secretary complained, "Such indiscretion!"
The young secretary fell silent.
King Jingyao, whose mood wasn’t good, still said calmly, "Bring it over."
The Chief Secretary imdiately delivered the docunt to King Jingyao and asked the young secretary to leave.
King Jingyao nonchalantly opened the docunt, but then his gaze froze for a mont.
The docunt was in French, a language King Jingyao wasn’t very familiar with. However, the Chief Secretary recognized French, and upon one look—he froze completely!
This was the very docunt the Frenchman had lost!
This must be a copy!
The Chief Secretary translated the docunt, his voice trembling, and then looked at his superior.
King Jingyao lit a cigarette and looked up. "What do you think the sender ans by this?"
The Chief Secretary spoke softly, "Naturally, it’s a gesture of goodwill."
"Goodwill my ass!" King Jingyao spoke coldly, "This is a clear attempt to drag into this!"
He scoffed. "I wondered why she was so quick to respond and even put on a show of investigating together. She’s earned the money, but now it seems I’m supposed to take the fall with her."
The Chief Secretary was a smart man and understood King Jingyao’s words imdiately. For a mont, he was speechless.
King Jingyao continued coldly, "Otherwise, given how devilishly cunning she is, would she really let find such an obvious flaw?"
The Chief Secretary’s voice trembled as he replied, "Miss Gu is certain she has you completely figured out, sir."
"Arrest her and bring her here imdiately!" King Jingyao slamd his hand on the desk and stood up, his face furious.
The Chief Secretary didn’t move. King Jingyao’s voice grew even angrier. "I told you to arrest her and bring her here!"
Only then did the Chief Secretary make a move. "Really? In that case, I’ll gather the n. Given her skills, I’ll probably need to take 50 elite personnel."
With that, he headed for the door.
But King Jingyao called him back. "Wait."
The Chief Secretary halted.
After reflecting for a mont, King Jingyao said, "Forget it. It’s late."
Sensing the shift, the Chief Secretary quickly leaned in and whispered, "Look, she sent the docunt to us. Miss Gu considers you like an older brother. Besides, if we really did sothing to her, what about the Bo Family? And how would we explain it to the Old Master and Old Madam?"
King Jingyao snorted coldly. "She is threatening ! She’s got so nerve!"
The Chief Secretary continued to coax him, and after much effort, finally managed to calm King Jingyao down.
The magnate, however, was seething with anger!
He didn’t sleep all night.
The matter reached a stalemate. King Jingyao assigned it to Chen Ming to handle, including dealing with Anna.
Despite his anger, the docunt was still carefully studied and indeed proved to be highly valuable...
While he was furious, Gu Anxi, on the other hand, acted as if nothing had happened.
One day, Bo Xichen had a docunt requiring King Jingyao’s signature. Being too busy to deliver it himself, he asked Gu Anxi to do it on his behalf.
Gu Anxi felt her uncle was being too permissive, and she left with a pout, clearly displeased.
Bo Xichen understood her discontent, smiled, and returned to his work.
Gu Anxi made a face, then ran out, went downstairs, got into a car, and drove to King Jingyao’s office. Most of the people there knew her and tacitly assud she was a favorite of Mr. King.
The Chief Secretary’s face lit up when he saw her. "Miss Gu, you’re here!"
"Mhm, I’m here to get a docunt stamped for my uncle." Gu Anxi said, holding up the docunt pouch in her hand. She was about to go in but was stopped by the Chief Secretary...
