Min Xin eyed him, clearing his throat lightly. "Who said I agreed? Do I look like the kind of person who would bow to a vicious power like Gu Anxi for a woman? You underestimate ."
His secretary responded, "Understood."
Min Xin leaned against the headboard. "Bring the files."
"You’re injured; you should rest. There’s no end to these matters," his secretary tried to persuade him.
Min Xin’s voice was cold. "If I don’t deal with these things now, in half a month, there will be little I can do. I’ve been in a life-or-death struggle with the other side for over twenty years. How could I give up at this critical juncture?"
His secretary had no choice but to fetch the files.
Just as he brought them over, the ward door opened. In ca a figure from the room opposite, wrapped up like a mummy, carrying a basket of fruit—surprisingly fresh-looking, at that.
Min Xin’s secretary imdiately went over. "Mr. King, you’re injured yourself. Why co over personally, and with fruit? You’re too kind."
Min Xin remained silent, knowing King Jingyao was up to no good.
Sure enough, King Jingyao’s next words were, "Don’t ntion it. Zhou Yu specifically bought these and had her servants deliver them. They’re good for patients, help to cool internal heat. I brought them over as soon as I got them. I can’t be the only one to receive such comfort, now can I?"
He grinned at Min Xin. "See, your old brother here is still thinking of you. Let’s enjoy this together. This is Zhou Yu’s sentint; we shouldn’t waste it."
Min Xin clenched his fists, his voice cold. "That’s her sentint towards *you*."
King Jingyao, however, kept smiling warmly, indifferent to Min Xin’s coldness and seemingly oblivious to his simring anger. "There’s too much for to eat alone, so I ca to share with you. You cherish these things the most, don’t you?"
Min Xin’s voice grew even colder. "You’re sorely mistaken."
King Jingyao stroked his chin. "Why be so standoffish?"
He peeled a banana. "If you don’t eat it, I will. This tastes really good. Just like Yuyu—she always knows what I’ve loved since I was a child."
After finishing one, he clapped his hands. "Alright, I can see you’re not too happy to see . How about this: I’m being discharged tomorrow. I’ll co visit you again in a few days."
Min Xin sneered, "Oh? Whose wife did you seduce this ti to get yourself beaten so badly?"
King Jingyao exclaid, "I’m perfectly innocent and proper, I assure you! If I were to get involved with anyone, it would only be an ex-wife. In that, at least, I’m a step ahead of you, Little Brother Min. I heard your ’seed’ ca to claim kinship earlier? I imagined it was a touching scene, so I didn’t want to interrupt your father-daughter reunion. Truthfully, I’m not jealous of you. Zhou Yu is pregnant! In a few days, I’ll take her for a prenatal check-up, and I’ll also swing by to ask for your advice on fatherhood. This is my first ti becoming a father, you know. I’m actually quite excited!"
Min Xin was so furious he almost leaped out of bed. He growled, "Wang Yuan!"
His secretary took a step forward.
King Jingyao tossed the banana peel aside—HA HA, a fight?
Who doesn’t have a secretary!
"Jingchuan!"
Wang Jingchuan stepped forward!
Min Xin roared, "Everyone outside, get in here!"
HA HA, wants a group fight? King Jingyao tilted his head. "Jingchuan, how many n do we have?"
His secretary-general, Jingchuan, whispered, "None at all!"
Min Xin said coldly, "Fine! Then don’t bla for being impolite!"
King Jingyao faltered, regretting provoking Min Xin. The man was crazy enough to do anything when it ca to Zhou Yu!
Just as he hesitated, Secretary-General Jingchuan spoke again. "I didn’t arrange for anyone, but Miss Anxi deployed sixty people from Old Lin to ensure your safety."
The mont King Jingyao heard that, he was instantly reinvigorated. He brandished a banana peel and laughed heartily. "HA HA! It seems my good-for-nothing little sister is useful after all! Sixty n—enough to pound you all into at paste!"
Min Xin was speechless.
Then he looked up at Wang Yuan.
His secretary had been with him for a long ti and instantly understood his master had lost his nerve.
Wang Yuan forced a smile. "A misunderstanding!"
King Jingyao also laughed. "Indeed, it was a misunderstanding."
He stood up, straightening his clothes. "We’re both n of status. Constantly fighting is unseemly, isn’t it? At our age, we should be competing in terms of status, won, children, and wealth."
With every word King Jingyao spoke, Min Xin felt like he was about to vomit blood.
He couldn’t compare in any of them!
He swore to himself. King Jingyao only had that damnable creature on his side, that little milk spirit. He was determined to snatch her!
