Min Xin knew, of course, that she wouldn’t agree. She had struggled so hard to escape him. She’d even refused to admit the child she carried was his, terrified he would bind her to him again. That’s how much she despised him—enough to claim the child belonged to another man.
He felt downcast but was outwardly calm. "It’s not that. I just feel a bit guilty about how I’ve treated you and want to make ands."
Zhou Yu lowered her head, revealing a delicate, fair neck. She murmured softly, "I’m doing very well now, so I don’t really need your compensation."
Min Xin sat down closer to her. Zhou Yu tensed, imdiately standing up.
He grabbed her hand and forced her to sit back down. She heard his hoarse voice, "Don’t you miss at all?"
Zhou Yu couldn’t stand this. She struggled, but even with his injured hand, he held her firmly, whispering assertively, "I can be your lover."
Without a second thought, Zhou Yu slapped him hard across the face. "You’re shaless! Disgusting!"
He didn’t dodge it, taking the slap stoically. He didn’t even get angry; instead, he smiled indulgently, "Who’s better, or King Jingyao, hmm?"
Zhou Yu was livid, about to slap him again...
Just then, a voice rang out, "Min, your constitution is truly impressive. You fractured bones, and yet, just two days later, you’re already out trying to seduce a married woman."
A chill ran down Min Xin’s spine. He turned his gaze to King Jingyao, who walked over looking effortlessly distinguished despite his casual ho attire.

King Jingyao walked over, pulled Zhou Yu up, and gently patted her shoulder to comfort her. "Did he scare you?"
Zhou Yu hadn’t expected such intimacy from him...
King Jingyao played along, gently kissing her hair. "Alright, let the n discuss their business. You go to the living room and have sothing to eat. The fruit Wang Yuan sent over is quite fresh; don’t let it go to waste."
Zhou Yu nodded and left.
Min Xin just watched her leave with a forlorn expression, his hands feeling empty.
King Jingyao chuckled and sat on the swing, giving it a gentle push. "Min, this isn’t right of you. How could you try to seduce your sister-in-law while I wasn’t ho?"
Damn it! She’s clearly my woman! That’s clearly my child!
King Jingyao grinned. "Look at you. You didn’t cherish her when you had the chance, and now you want her back. But won aren’t objects; they have feelings. It’s not as simple as wanting her and getting her back. Let’s be frank: even if I weren’t in the picture, do you really think Zhou Yu would take you back?"
His gentle words were like a sharp knife, jolting Min Xin to his senses.

He stared blankly...
King Jingyao patted him on the shoulder. "When it cos to matters between n and won, think things through before you act. Don’t be impulsive like these youngsters."
Min Xin replied coldly, "I just ca to see my ex-wife. Mr. Wang, that’s quite a heavy accusation you’re trying to pin on ."
King Jingyao chuckled. "You’ve got wrong. I’m not the one accusing *you* of wearing a green hat. You and Zhou Yu are divorced. If anyone’s to wear a green hat here, it would be . How could it possibly be your turn, little brother?"
Min Xin was seething all over again.
As he squinted, about to say sothing, King Jingyao stood up and adjusted his clothes. "If you want her to be safe, this child... must be mine."
Min Xin was stunned.
King Jingyao patted his shoulder again. "See? I’m taking the fall for you, and yet you still treat with such hostility!"
With that, he walked towards the main hall, leaving Min Xin alone, his world a chaotic ss, the elation he’d felt just monts before about discovering his son completely extinguished.
