Gu Anxi humd softly, then asked quietly, "Papa Bo, did you see Shen Wanqing last night?"
Bo Nianyao sat down and took a sip of tea. "Yes, I saw her. That girl is as spirited as ever."
Gu Anxi sat beside him, looking directly at Bo Nianyao. "Has her great work been published yet?"
Hearing this, Bo Nianyao chuckled. "She’s probably still writing it. Young girls are often impulsive and like to be in the spotlight; it’s not always a good thing. If she makes too much of a splash this ti, soone will surely teach her a lesson."
Gu Anxi nodded, obediently keeping Bo Nianyao company.
Bo Nianyao was extrely fond of her. When their conversation shifted, he took out so treasures for them to admire together. In the past, Elder He would always co over to discuss things with them, but recently, for so unknown reason, Elder He hadn’t been visiting as often. Bo Nianyao only thought to invite him after he himself was free, but the wife of Anxi’s master ntioned that the old fellow wasn’t feeling too well.
Bo Nianyao sighed. They really were getting old. As he lanted, he set up a chessboard, carefully watching the girl, afraid she might not want to play chess with him.
Gu Anxi found it sowhat amusing. Papa Bo must have been a bit bored lately. In the past, at least he had Second Uncle Bo to keep him company.
Thinking of Bo Qing, she also grew silent.
Second Uncle Bo was a sore spot for the Bo Family. Everyone felt bad about it, but they all pretended not to care. And so, as the two of them drank tea and played chess, they gradually put the matter out of their minds.
Just before dinnerti, Chen Ming called, his tone sowhat urgent. "Anxi, that painter with the surna Shen has been kidnapped."
Gu Anxi was a little surprised. "Shen Wanqing?"
Chen Ming nodded. "Yes. People from the newspaper agency couldn’t contact her. They checked the hotel’s surveillance footage and discovered she’d been kidnapped. It’s probably related to that article."
"And the article?" Gu Anxi asked casually.
Chen Ming chuckled. "Actually, she hadn’t even written it yet!"
Gu Anxi laughed too. "So, she’s afraid of dying. That’s smart of her, in a way. But if she were truly smart, she would have packed her things and returned to Qingcheng imdiately."
Chen Ming asked her to co to the scene. Gu Anxi, still on the phone, told Bo Nianyao about it. Bo Nianyao was quite agreeable. "Alright, if Chen Ming wants you to go, then go. Just don’t forget to eat."
Gu Anxi nodded, exchanged a few more words with Chen Ming, and then headed to the scene.
About an hour later, she arrived and found Zhou Yunchen and Jiang Chaoge already there.
Jiang Chaoge, who had recently returned from studying abroad, kept complaining about the poor public security in Beicheng, claiming that such things would never happen in France or England.
Gu Anxi glanced at her, amused. "Weren’t you the one who invited Shen Wanqing here? Besides, the ones causing trouble behind the scenes are foreign interests. If it weren’t for them, Beicheng would be very safe."
Jiang Chaoge retorted coldly, "Gu Anxi, you have no proof. What grounds do you have for saying such things?"
"This is Beicheng, my ho ground. Do I need to consider your feelings when I speak here?" Gu Anxi retorted, then walked into Shen Wanqing’s room. It was quite luxurious. Clearly, she hasn’t been skimping on herself after gaining so fa. But this kind of spending must still be a strain for Shen Wanqing. It seems Papa Bo was right; she really is ambitious.
"See anything?" Chen Ming asked her.
Gu Anxi looked around but didn’t spot anything out of the ordinary. Finally, her gaze landed on a laptop. It was obviously left behind by Shen Wanqing...
