The little nurse comforted her like that, and Shen’s mother nodded through her tears.

She wasn’t feeling well and soon fell asleep again. The nurses exchanged a look and sighed.

They all knew that Miss Shen too, a celebrity in Qingcheng. She used to be Young Master Qin’s girlfriend, oh, the way she shone back then. Later the Qin family went downhill and she broke up with Young Master Qin. Who could’ve known Young Master Qin would rise again? Life is really unpredictable.

And this Miss Shen looks glamorous enough, but never does anything decent. One nurse whispered, "I’ve got a relative who’s kind of in that circle, this Miss Shen is a famous mistress, the kind that specializes in accompanying rich n. In their circle they call her a ’literary poultry’."

Another one thought for a while before she finally got it, her voice laced with disdain: "How can she be like that? Then she never really liked Young Master Qin before, everything was for money, right?"

"Who says it wasn’t? Just look at how she treats her own mother."

Later, around noon, the little nurse made a call to Wang Keru and told her the situation. Wang Keru ca by around two in the afternoon to take a look. It wasn’t anything serious, but you could tell it still broke her heart, seeing her own daughter turn out like this.

When she went ho that evening, the whole Wang Family—old and young—had already left. It was a four o’clock flight, and Gu Yuntian personally drove them to the airport.

After two days of busyness, the couple finally sat down to talk. Wang Keru let out a light sigh. "She’s pitiful too. To have a daughter like that in her old age."

Gu Yuntian slowly took a sip of tea, his voice gentle. "It’s not that bad. At worst it just ans one more person in the house. She’s honest, modest and hard‑working. If the workload is lighter from now on and she can save so money, she’ll at least be able to support herself in her later years."

Wang Keru agreed. "I knew you’d be considerate. She’s a proud one too, doesn’t like relying on others. Otherwise she wouldn’t have been living alone all these years. In this, Wanqing really takes after her not at all."

Gu Yuntian patted her hand, deliberately coaxing his wife. "Look, our child takes after you, inherited all your strengths."

Wang Keru shot him a sidelong glance. "Here you go again, sweet‑talking ."

She smoothed her hair, twisted her waist and headed upstairs. "Alright, I’m going to take a shower first, then I’ll talk to Anxi about this later."

Suddenly, she paused mid‑step. "Oh right, did my older brother not get on the plane?"

Gu Yuntian was surprised. "How did you know?"

"I guessed." The look on Wang Keru’s face wasn’t great. She added a few more sentences, then hurried upstairs.

Once she got upstairs, she didn’t shower first. She dialed Gu Anxi instead.

When Gu Anxi picked up, she chuckled. "Grandpa and the others are already back. They haven’t co to yet, but they’ll probably co over tomorrow at the latest."

Wang Keru nodded. "As long as you’re ntally prepared."

After she said that, she paused, then slowly went on, "Anxi, how did you know your mom..."

Gu Anxi was lying on the sofa, her little head resting against Professor Bo’s stomach, happily gnawing on an apple. "Did you forget? You used to go on about it all the ti when I was little."

Wang Keru scolded her laughingly, "Out of everything to rember at such a young age, you rember this."

"So, are you happy or not?" Gu Anxi grinned. "And don’t you dare say you don’t like this kind of vanity thing!"

Wang Keru’s eyes were a little moist. "I do. Of course I do. It’s just... your Aunt Chen had a car accident, it all feels a bit off. But don’t worry, it’s nothing major. Your dad just said the sa thing: at worst, it’s just one more person in the house."

(PS: There really is no problem that money can’t solve~~ Money is seriously important~~)

Gu Anxi humd softly, asked a few more questions, then said, "Tomorrow I’ll call the departnt head and have him pay extra attention. And once she’s discharged, just bring her ho to stay. If she’s out there alone she’ll definitely be scrimping and saving again."

"That’s what I was thinking too." Wang Keru smiled. "We’re really on the sa page."

Mother and daughter chatted for a while longer before reluctantly hanging up.

When Wang Keru put down the phone, she was smiling.

In the past, she was always thinking Anxi should be this way or that way, always wanting to control her. But now she realized this child had grown up especially well. Yun Tian really taught her well...

(The old couple then go into another round of lovey‑dovey stuff~ omitted~)

On the other side, after hanging up, Gu Anxi said, "Uncle, my eldest uncle didn’t go back to Jiangcheng."

Professor Bo had co ho a bit early tonight. Leaning on the sofa, flipping through so materials, he casually replied, "He’s got sothing going on?"

Gu Anxi tugged the book out of his hand, crawled forward a bit, and sighed. "He’s probably dizzy from being in love. Choosing beauty over kingdom."

Professor Bo chuckled. "You an Shen Wanqing."

He paused for a mont, then suddenly hooked a finger under his little wife’s chin. After studying her for a bit, he finally said, "Actually, she doesn’t really count as a great beauty."

Gu Anxi patted his hand and said weakly, "If you want to critique her, just critique her. Why are you looking at ?"

Uncle Bo spoke very slowly. "What I an is, with such a beauty right here, and I’m still always staring at these boring academic papers, I’m clearly being terribly unromantic."

Once he finished, he dragged her over. She struggled a few tis but couldn’t escape, breathing in little gasps. "Gentle...manly scum..."

After a bout of fooling around, the little cream puff lay on her stomach, kicking her little feet.

Professor Bo was a bad man.

Bo Xichen smiled, raised his hand to check the ti, and kissed her once. "Alright, I’m off to a cross‑border eting. Entertain yourself."

Gu Anxi grabbed him. "Hey."

He turned back. "What is it?"

Then he lowered his head, pressing close to her intimately. "Does Mrs. Bo want after‑sales service?"

She imdiately started stamring. "What after‑sales service?!"

"Then just leave a five‑star review."

Gu Anxi spat at him; he was utterly shaless.

But she still had sothing to ask him, shaless or not. "Uncle, do you have ti to go to Qingcheng?"

"Aunt Chen?" He smiled and pinched her cheek. "It’s a routine operation. The departnt head over there is already being put to poor use. If you’re worried, I’ll have Manager Ma take you to visit her."

Since he said that, she shook her head. "Forget it then. I’ll hold off on going for now."

Bo Xichen chuckled. "I’m going to the eting."

Gu Anxi waved weakly and pulled a small blanket over herself. He suddenly turned back. "You’re not... going to wash up?"

"I’ll wait till you co back." She acted spoiled. "I just want to sleep now."

He laughed.

This little bumpkin.

But no matter what, you never嫌弃 your own wife. He cheerfully headed off to his eting.

Leaving the little cream puff there half sleepy and half grinding her teeth: working from day to night, his stamina could really change into another form. At this hour he could still go to a eting like it was first thing in the morning. Uncle’s physical strength was seriously sothing else.

Gu Anxi napped for a while. She woke up around midnight, and as soon as she opened her eyes she felt a warm breath. Her body seed to be lifted up. She quickly wrapped her arms around his neck. "eting’s over?"

He humd in acknowledgnt, speaking as he carried her into the bedroom.

All the lights were off except for the night‑light, so it was a bit dim. In the dark, Uncle looked like he was even more handso.

She pinched his face, her voice all soft and mushy. "What ti is it?"

"Almost dawn," he said hoarsely.

She murmured, "Then I’m not showering. I’m so tired..."

He gave her a light smack. "Dirty little kid."

She secretly giggled, clinging to his neck and acting cute. She finally managed to bluff her way through it. She wouldn’t wash, but she still made him wash till he was squeaky clean. Professor Bo was both amused and helpless...

Gu Anxi said righteously, "This is the benefit won get in marriage. Otherwise, with how much childbirth hurts, why would won still have babies? If there are no perks, might as well not get married at all."

He stood by the bed in a white bathrobe, closing in on her dangerously. "So other than childbirth, there are no other benefits?"

Looking at the handso face right in front of her, Gu Anxi suddenly ran out of words, stamring for a long ti...

Bo Xichen chuckled softly again.

The little cream puff mustered her courage and cleared her throat. "Actually, actually there are still so..."

...

The next morning, when Gu Anxi woke up, Uncle Bo was no longer in the bedroom.

She sat up and heard voices from downstairs. It sounded like Old Wang’s voice.

She listened and felt a bit of a headache. Scratching her hair, she took a quick shower and went downstairs.

Once she got downstairs, sure enough, it was Old Wang who had co over... with a big group of people behind him, everyone there except Wang Kefu.
