Having learned from the previous lesson, this ti, Yun Ran directly had the Little Paperman block out the external sounds, and continued to sleep.
When she woke up bright and early, Yun Ran felt refreshed and invigorated.
As she prepared to leave this small county town, Yun Ran noticed that there were many people tailing her.
They all seed like passersby, but the way their eyes and gazes sized up the pedestrians was like they had X-ray vision.
Being under such scrutiny, Yun Ran felt extrely uncomfortable.
She didn’t know if her current appearance was eye-catching or if having a child with her made those people imdiately discount her.
Their gaze quickly shifted away from Yun Ran.
"Host, these people, could they be the ones after Shang Huai? There seem to be quite a few of them."
"It has nothing to do with us."
Yun Ran took out a map, marked it, and planned to finish this little circuit before heading back.
Elsewhere, in a dark basent, Shang Huai carefully fed water to his companion.
Feeling the relentless high fever on his companion, he sank into deep sadness.
A sharp and acerbic female voice arose from a corner: "How much longer do we have to stay in this godforsaken place? I’m going insane!"
Normally mild-tempered, Shang Huai burst out in anger for the first ti, shouting at the owner of the voice: "Shut up!"
It had not been easy for them to find such a hidden refuge.
"Ah... Shang Huai, I don’t think I can hold on... You guys..."
Seeing his dear brother in such a state, tears imdiately fell from Shang Huai’s eyes, filled with even more regret.
"Hold on, I’ve found soone to send the stone out. The people from the Capital City will co soon."
The others sitting in the corner, upon hearing that Shang Huai had sent the stone out, looked up anxiously from their previously lifeless states.
"You sent the item out?"
"Are there people from the Shang Family here as well? Then why didn’t you seek them out sooner? We wouldn’t have to be chased down like this!"
"Is that person trustworthy?"
...
Everyone argued noisily, even those who were spirited just a few days ago.
Now they were filthy, emitting a faint scent of spoilage.
Shang Huai did not answer their questions, his tone notably filled with resentnt.
"If you had listened to earlier, we wouldn’t be trapped here!"
Upon hearing this, the others imdiately fell silent, inwardly blaming the instigators.
The woman, keenly aware of her companions’ resentnts, shrank back while feeling wronged, as she had not ant for this to happen.
When she obtained the stone from a dying person, she had truly thought it was so special, uncut gemstone, which is why she showed it off on her social dia.
Little did she expect to attract such trouble.
When Shang Huai sensed sothing was amiss, she still thought he was being paranoid and didn’t listen to him, refusing to flee overnight.
Other mbers of their adventure team, as well as the bodyguard guides they had hired, were injured or separated during the chase.
In the end, they barely escaped using several hidden resources the Shang Family had in the Northwest, but they were still trapped in this small county town.
Those hidden resources of the Shang Family also t with misfortune.
They wanted to hand over the stone to save their lives at the first opportunity, but the other party seed like they couldn’t see it at all.
They bit down hard and did not let go, clearly intent on killing them.
After Yun Ran left the county town, those who had been lingering near the town imdiately sensed sothing was amiss.
Each of them carried a special little glass bottle, and just one minute ago, the insects inside were still bouncing around lively.
Now, those insects had suddenly died.
"The Divine Stone is no longer nearby. It seems that soone has taken the Divine Stone out of the county town!"
"Impossible, our people are all nearby. If soone left with the Divine Stone, we would definitely know."
"It looks like those little rascals’ reinforcents have arrived. Retreat!"
Upon the command, those who were guarding the vicinity imdiately dispersed.
Not long after they retreated, people from the Capital City’s Shang Family arrived with a rescue team.
The chaos amongst the others completely failed to alert Yun Ran; at this mont, she was leisurely cycling, basking in the natural scenery, which was incredibly pleasant.
anwhile, the two Little Papern sent out by Yun Ran clung to the underside of the vehicle Dr. Yu was in.
Dust was flying everywhere.
The two exceptionally clean Little Papern were now exceptionally dirty, almost entirely covering their original colors.
After who knows how long, the vehicle finally stopped, and the Little Papern looked at the dust on themselves with so disdain.
Seeing a small wash basin nearby, specifically for washing vehicles, the Little Papern flew over and subrged themselves in the water.
The dirty Little Papern felt the gri wash off bit by bit in the water.
Imdiately, their eyes curved in a smile, then they cautiously poked their heads above the water to make sure no one saw them.
They quickly flew out of the water and shook themselves dry of the water droplets.
There was no one in the vehicle now; everybody had gone to rest and eat.
The Little Papern prepared to sneak in through a gap.
Turning their heads, they saw a dumb-looking dog staring at them with a frightened face, followed by deafening frantic barking.
The Little Papern instantly revealed a mischievous smile and waved their little hands at the big dog.
The gesture was similar to those enjoyed by people who liked to hit dogs, which scared the big dog into running away; unfortunately, it was stopped by the chain around its neck.
The Little Papern imdiately doubled over with silent laughter; the big dog beca even more scared and yelped wildly.
The dog’s owner knew very well the nature of their own dog and thought there might be thieves, so they hurried out to check.
The two mischievous Little Papern instantly flew into the interior of the vehicle and then clung to the underside of a seat.
They didn’t want to continue sticking under the vehicle, being dirty Little Papern.
The dog’s owner looked around yet saw nothing; their own big dog had a look of terror on its face, as if it had gone mad.
"There must be a ghost! Making such a racket, if you scare the guests, you can forget about dinner!"
The dog, scolded profusely, was completely questioning its dog life.
It thought it had seen a ghost indeed, but sadly it couldn’t speak and was unjustly blad and scolded.
After the dog owner left, the big dog’s gaze was still locked onto the vehicle.
It was determined to catch those two troublemakers that caused it to be scolded by its owner, then bite them and run to its owner to claim credit!
Realizing the two Little Papern she had sent out were being so naughty, Yun Ran felt a bit speechless too.
