Rong Gu looked indifferently at the old man before her, yet her stoic expression was enough to send chills down his spine and drench him in cold sweat.

"Fairy... Fairy..."

Rong Gu withdrew her gaze, stepped down from the altar, and brushed off the non-existent dust from her clothing.

"If she were so easy to kill, you wouldn’t have asked to take action. However, it’s not without progress. She’s not dead, but she has been ensnared by a curse. If it’s not lifted, she’ll eventually succumb to a body in ruins!"

The old man felt sowhat disappointed, but then he thought of the news he had received earlier and suddenly felt that it was a pleasant surprise that Yun Ran had fallen for it.

"Yes, yes, truly, when the Fairy takes action, it’s extraordinary. The day is getting dark now; you should rest early."

Rong Gu nodded slightly. If it weren’t for the fact she needed a great deal of resources to extend her brother’s life, with her temperant, she would have already twisted the necks of those who wanted to ddle.

Yun Ran switched on the room’s lights and looked at the red dot in the palm of her hand that had penetrated through the back of her hand.

Her other hand was engaged in calculations.

Very soon, she figured out that the person who had hard her was in the Capital City.

But the other party was no easy target; she could only determine a rough area, not the exact location.

Nonetheless, there were only a few in the Capital City who could harm her, and together with the fact that Xie Xuzhi said Rong Gu had appeared today.

In conclusion, the one who had made a move against her must definitely be Rong Gu.

"Interesting indeed. Just showing up and you’re already using as a cutting board. It seems my reputation has spread so far that they can’t wait to remove , the obstacle in their path."

There was a rapid knock at the door, clearly Dragon Spirit; after all, Ginsengfruit would never knock at such a late hour.

If there was really anything to say, both of them could communicate through the System’s voice transmission.

Yun Ran put on her coat and opened the door.

She was t with Dragon Spirit’s unfriendly gaze, and his tone was even tinged with suppressed anger: "What on earth have you done!"

Imdiately following, Dragon Spirit extended his own hand, revealing a red dot in the middle of his slender palm.

Yun Ran: ...

She retracted her previous regrets about being bound to Dragon Spirit – having a powerful Life bound to her was actually pretty good; at the very least, this fellow could take so damage for her.

"All of a sudden, why would soone curse you, and moreover, succeed in cursing you? Just how many people have you offended!!!"

Dragon Spirit really wanted to thrash Yun Ran. He had been carefree in the sea, and if it weren’t for Yun Ran, he would have beco a Water Dragon by now, and could rule over a territory by himself.

Now, not only does he have to act as a little brother to Yun Ran, but he also has to bear so of her damage, such rotten luck.

Yun Ran also felt innocent. She wasn’t one to offend people actively, and this bla was not sothing she would carry.

Her hands spread open in resignation: "Truly, it’s not my fault. Only diocrity escapes jealousy and scheming. Your ’victim-blaming’ ntality is incorrect!"

Dragon Spirit glared at the red mark on his palm, his face flushed with annoyance. He had road the seas for a thousand years; when had he ever suffered such a loss?

"I don’t care, it’s your ss, so you must sort it out quickly, or else there’s no end between you and !"

Seeing that Dragon Spirit was about to explode, Yun Ran pacified him lest he actually lost his temper and hurt her by mistake.

"Alright, alright, I’ll handle this. But honestly, this little aftereffect of a curse is not a big deal. After all, you are a powerful Life, making such a fuss, how embarrassing~"

If this curse had fallen on soone else, they would have died imdiately, and without any clues left behind.

But falling upon Yun Ran, it just led to a slight aftermath of a decaying hand – a minor issue.

Perhaps it was Yun Ran’s sincere belief in his might, Dragon Spirit felt sowhat vainly acknowledged by her.

"You know this now. How many tis has this happened, always dragging along? Only because I am imnsely powerful that I am not yet ruined by your trouble.

This ti, I’ll let it pass. But if there’s a next ti, don’t bla for not giving you face. I hate being burdened!"

After venting his frustration, Dragon Spirit’s lingering irritation vanished. He snorted coldly and left.

Yun Ran closed the door. Although she didn’t take the matter of being cursed too seriously, feeling like she had been slapped was indeed distressing.

"What goes around cos around. If I don’t retaliate, they might really think I’m an easy target."

Yun Ran hastily grabbed her bag and began to rummage through it.

She had little interest in these curses and entrapnt thods.

But her uncle had once said that to deal with these crooked ways, you must understand their thods. Only by knowing both yourself and your enemy can you overco them.

Thus, during her childhood, she had followed her uncle around and learned many of these crooked tactics, even though she chose not to use them.

After digging for a while, Yun Ran finally fished out an incredibly ancient-looking small box from the bottom of the bag.

Compared to other Magic Artifacts, this small box looked like sothing picked from a pile of junk – an item of no use at all.

Opening the box, there lay an ancient book inside, which looked as if it was on the verge of turning to dust at a re glance.

Yun Ran showed no pity as she forcefully flipped open the cover, revealing strange drawings that could make any ordinary person shiver with dread; so eerie and horrific it seed that the images contained pure Evil Energy.

Indeed, the pictures in the book were not of any benevolent nature.

Yun Ran tore out one of the pages with a swift motion, and if one were to look closely, they would see the edges of the ancient book marked with nurous tears.

After tearing out a page, Yun Ran closed the small box, and the slight Evil Energy that had been emanating from the ancient book imdiately vanished.

The pattern on the page seed to co to life after being detached from the box, and as soon as the box was shut, the entity on the pattern began to struggle fiercely, trying to escape the fate of being bound within the page. However, while a part of its body managed to rip free, the other part remained firmly affixed.

Yun Ran reached out and caught the black mass that couldn’t escape from the page, which then charged directly at her face, as if determined to take her down with it.

Sadly, as soon as it flew towards her, Yun Ran swatted it away with a slap, sending it crashing into the room’s coffee table.
