"I bla you for this," Agatha said, glancing at instead of answering Aba’s challenge.

"Sure. Whatever helps you sleep," I replied. "I sure as hell won’t be losing any sleep over it."

I understood both sides. Neither was right, neither was wrong, which was exactly why I would have stayed out of it. Agatha knew it from the start. "Cindy, show Agatha the seclusion chamber."

"As if I could concentrate, knowing this seemingly peaceful city could turn into a warzone any second now," Agatha shot back. She couldn’t bring herself to enter seclusion while the central governnt’s army could attack the city at any mont. Instead, a strange urge took hold of her.

"Cindy, forget the seclusion. Have soone bring a hundred of the juiciest burgers from that corner joint by the airfield," she said. "I loved them the last ti I was here. Ask them to make it hot."

"Yes, Ma’am Agatha," Cindy said with a nod as she summoned her grimoire to make the arrangents.

With her current status, even demigods within their organisation didn’t dare order Cindy around. But Agatha was their boss’s friend and guest. No effort would be spared to accommodate her.

"Cindy, since you’re ordering, get two hundred of those burgers as well—make mine extra hot," Aurelia said, glaring at Agatha, trying to intimidate her in her own way, while the latter made sure her princess’s severed wrist pressed back in place properly with no adverse effect whatsoever.

"What’s wrong with you, girl?" Agatha snapped. "You’re making it really hard not to knock your teeth into your ass. Maybe you’d prefer that, since you seem to talk out of your ass so much."

Agatha found Aurelia’s very existence irritating—mostly because she believed the girl was a bad influence on her princess. In her mind, if not for Aurelia egging Aba on, they would be back in the safe Southern palace right now or maybe haven’t tried to escape it in the first place.

"That’s a good one—I’ll give you that," Aurelia said, backing off, unable to hide her smile at Agatha’s jab.

Agatha had grown up on the streets. She had once been as wild as any other ruffian. But she had forced herself into discipline, shaping her speech and manners to better serve her master and princess, to avoid embarrassing them in company.

Still, when the mont called for it, that old edge was never far from the surface.

"You’re not bad yourself," Agatha said, deciding to let her anger go as long as the bart didn’t push it.

At the sa ti, Aba noticed a pair of pink eyes peeking at her through the gaps in my hair. She frowned, confused, wondering if I had sohow grown tiny eyes on my forehead. Having seen my true form, it wasn’t an unreasonable assumption.

Co to think of it, Agatha, Aba, and Laura had never properly t Dredre. She had beco my exclusive book guide soti after they moved to the Southern Palace. I was just about to introduce them when a heavy, dense intent sense suddenly swept over us, alerting everyone who could sense it.

It ca from the teleportation hub. We all turned at once.

A silver-haired figure stood on the platform, eyes glittering like a star-filled sky. Everything about her presence was undeniably heroic. When our gazes t, I couldn’t help but smile. She had surpassed the limits of the card world. At last, she was truly worthy of being called one of the ten strongest in the world. Clearly, her seclusion had yielded excellent results.

"Field Marshal Lorn!" the demigod squad of the Southern Royal Family called out. So of them were about to kneel, but her intent sense stopped them.

"I’m no longer your Field Marshal," she said sternly. "Don’t bring sha to the one who holds that title now."

The demigods lowered their heads. After a mont, one of the braver ones stepped forward and asked, "Why? Why did you leave us?"

Field Marshal Lorn t his gaze and answered calmly, "To give voice to the part of I’ve suppressed for a long ti."

"You weren’t fulfilled? That’s it?" the demigod shot back, anger rising in his voice. "You turned your back on us for sothing like that? I thought those with royal blood carried a higher calling—an obligation beyond the rest of us."

He wasn’t finished. His frustration only grew. "Where is the honor in standing alongside criminals and pointing your grimoire at your holand?"

"Honor? Kid, talk to about honor when you’ve achieved or sacrificed even a tenth of what I have," Field Marshal Lorn snapped, her patience finally breaking.

But she didn’t bla him. His anger was justified. These were people who had idolized her, who had followed her into battle and beyond on nothing but faith. Their outburst was earned. In fact, she was surprised only one of them had spoken up.

She didn’t resent their anger or their misunderstanding. She had known exactly what she was signing up for when she swore her loyalty to her lord. After all, it was better to suffer for doing what you believe in than for doing sothing you don’t.

"That’s why—tell why. If you’re right, I’ll stand beside you again. I’ll use every ounce of my strength to follow your orders," the demigod pleaded frantically, desperation was clear in his eyes. In tis like these, it wasn’t rare to find people trying to be on the right side of history—even when it ant losing.

"That’s not for to tell you," Field Marshal Lorn said, shaking her head. "That’s for you to figure out yourself."

With that, she vanished from the teleportation hub and reappeared before her lord and bowed deeply greeting him, "You called for , my lord."

The onlookers were surprised by the Field Marshal’s attitude toward . The only other person she had ever treated with such deference was Anna’s great-grandmother—the current Southern Heir.
