"I see." The Emissary of Light nodded, his expression turning indifferent as he added, "This still doesn’t change anything. All you’ve done is waste one arrow from a full quiver."
As he spoke, the gaping hole in his chest began to close, and his heart visibly reford within it.
"Yeah, yeah—you can’t die until your purpose is complete. You can heal any wound and cure any disease... there are so many of those abilities, it’s hard to keep track of them all. But you seem to be forgetting—none of that matters against the Card World," the Field Marshal said, reminding him that, invincible as he was, he was nothing before the power of the Card World.
"Yes, the Southern Princess did a great job with that. Go ahead, tell her to pat herself on the back. But aren’t you forgetting sothing? You are not the Card World. I’m still invincible when it cos to the likes of you," the Emissary of Light replied. He acknowledged that he stood below the Card World’s Will, but that didn’t change the fact that he was invincible against her. "I knew there was a reason I liked that one. No woman in the world has ever given the feeling I get whenever she glances at with those majestic but indifferent eyes. She’s sothing else. That settles it—when I’m done here, I’m finally going to make her mine."
Listening to the Emissary of Light crush on her niece so hard, Field Marshal Lorn burst into laughter. "Good luck with that. I heard her say that after eting you, she’d have to spend eight hours in a hot spring just to shake off the creepy feeling you gave her. Fair warning—you can’t make her yours. If you think you can, then you’re either mistaken or she wants you to think that. I promise you this: there is no woman in this world who hates n the way she does. If not for her role as the Minister of Foreign Affairs holding her back, she would have driven you to kill yourself long ago for have designs about her."
"Hahaha," the Emissary of Light laughed, listening to the Field Marshal, then added, "You know what? I believe you. If it were her asking , I would do anything—even kill myself. That dim but intense light in her eyes just has this hold over that even I don’t understand."
"The first ti I saw those eyes of hers, I thought they were part of your unparalleled bloodline. But when I saw them again, I realized that wasn’t it. She sees the world in a completely different light than we do. You have no idea how much I wish to see the world the way her eyes do. What I wouldn’t give to sit beside her and listen to her describe the world as she sees it."
"I tried to work up the nerve to ask her, but before I could, she would find a way to make her answer clear to . I don’t think any woman can understand better than she does. I’m just too obsessed with her. It got to the point where I wanted to use divine enlightennt on her and make her mine so many tis, but then there was the Southern Ruler and the fear that she might lose what made her special. The Field Marshal was visibly creeped out by what she was hearing. eting powerful and wealthy creeps ca with her niece’s job title, so when the latter ntioned the Emissary of Light to her, she knew he had to be a special breed of creep. Now that she had seen and heard him, she understood why it took her niece an eight-hour soak in a hot spring to shake it off.
"It feels so good to finally speak my feelings to soone, ha. Now I know what I want and what I need to do. Thank you," the Emissary of Light remarked, appearing to be in a better mood.
"Huh?" The Field Marshal was confused, hearing the Emissary of Light thank her after finishing his monologue.
"You are going to help get your niece. I wonder how much she loves her aunt and what she is willing to do to save her life," the Emissary of Light said, a fanatic light in his eyes.
"Didn’t you hear? We are allies no more. She hates my guts for going my own way so much that she put my family under house arrest," the Field Marshal said, as she found the Mystic Dinsion was suddenly warning her. The last ti this happened was when a Noble-class devil she was trying to suppress in it broke the Mystic Dinsion.
That was about a century ago. She was much stronger now, especially after breaking through the limits of the Card World. She was a Noble-class demigod herself, so her Mystic Dinsion was far stronger than it had been back then. This only went to prove the terror of the Emissary of Light. Not just him—all three mischiefs couldn’t be judged solely based on their realm. They were monsters, defying the limits that governed the rest of them.
"Even better. I was wondering what gift I should take with when I et her later. Sothing tells you’ll make more than a decent gift," the Emissary of Light said loudly, as his presence alone began to dominate the Mystic Realm. He then stared at the Field Marshal, saying, "Nothing can stop from doing my duty. I shall not rest till I fulfill it."
The Field Marshal smiled in response, saying, "I can, as I am here on behalf of the Card World’s Will to send you to the cycle of reincarnation."
