"Since when did cities start using array formations this strong?" Aqualas muttered while hiding within the bloodstorm clouds several miles away from Sky Blossom City. Her eyes remained fixed on the massive barrier surrounding the city as waves of energy pulsed faintly across its surface.
"It would cost an absolute fortune to keep sothing like that running year-round," she added before narrowing her eyes suspiciously at Seraphina. "You never told this guy was rich."
"No, it actually doesn’t," Seraphina calmly corrected her. "The formation is extrely energy-efficient and mostly self-sustaining. It requires little to no maintenance to operate."
Then, after glancing at her eccentric friend, Seraphina added, "And yes, he is rich. So even believe he’s the wealthiest card apprentice across the Five Regions."
A faint trace of confusion appeared in her eyes afterward.
"But what exactly would you even do with mortal wealth?"
"Did you forget? Your kind used to worship ," Aqualas said with a nostalgic sigh while gazing at the distant city lights below. "Back then, we protected humanity and taught you how to survive in this world. We showed you how to use soul energy, how to use rule power, how to fight which you used to find soul craft and then to beco the card apprentices."
Her tone gradually turned bitter.
"And once you guys adapted and no longer needed us, you cast us aside and turned against the very beings who guided you—"
"That never happened. Stop making stuff up," Seraphina interrupted flatly, clearly having heard this story far too many tis already.
According to Aqualas, she along with other supre beings had once been worshipped by all humankind. She claid they had personally taught humanity about soul energy, rule power, and the laws of the world itself before humans eventually betrayed them out of greed and fear.
The problem was that Aqualas had dozens of stories like that, yet not a single shred of proof to support any of them.
"Back then, if soone dared interrupt like that, they would’ve been hanged... or worse, stoned to death by the crowd," Aqualas said irritably.
What annoyed her most was that neither Seraphina nor Veerott believed she had been one of the true founders of the card apprentice system. It wasn’t that they thought she was outright lying. The claims were simply too absurd for them to accept at face value.
After all, Aqualas constantly spoke as though she had personally witnessed the birth of card apprentice civilization in this world. Yes, supre beings were immortal, but they were not known for being social and tolerant, they were territorial and savage. Especially toward the card apprentices.
"There’s no way we can sneak past that array formation and enter the city unnoticed," Veerott remarked while staring at the massive barrier surrounding Sky Blossom City.
Even from miles away, the formation radiated layers upon layers of detection, suppression, and defensive energy fluctuations. The entire city felt less like a city and more like a gigantic fortress prepared for war.
Trying to ambush soone inside their own territory under those conditions felt practically impossible.
Yep, Seraphina’s plan was for the three of them to infiltrate the Sky Blossom City without getting noticed and to assassinate the forr Southern Hope before he could summon his Celestial Rule Domain or call for reinforcents.
In Seraphina’s mind, it was the perfect strategy. Strike fast, kill instantly, and take over the city with their combined strength.
The plan itself had only co into existence because Aqualas failed to use the pseudo Celestial Rule Domain technique to create a true Celestial Rule Domain like the one Seraphina claid the forr Southern Hope possessed.
Aqualas still didn’t fully believe her story. The idea that a re card apprentice could summon a genuine Celestial Rule Domain sounded ridiculous to her. Still, she chose to go along with the plan anyway.
At the very least, it promised to relieve so of her endless boredom.
"Tsk, tsk. You two keep forgetting you’re traveling with the great ," Aqualas boasted arrogantly while crossing her arms. "Sneaking into the city unnoticed is trivial. Just don’t resist."
The next mont, Aqualas’s intent sense spread out of her body and enveloped Veerott and Seraphina. Before either of them could react, their bodies suddenly lost form. Flesh, bone, soul energy, and even spiritual presence lted apart like ice dissolving into water beneath the sun.
The three of them collapsed soundlessly onto the ground as flowing liquid. Not blood, but like ordinary water. It was sothing stranger, as though their very existence had transford into water.
The water quickly seeped into the earth before tunneling downward through cracks and gaps in the soil. Soon, they rged with the vast underground water channels flowing beneath Sky Blossom City like hidden veins beneath the land.
As they traveled through the underground streams, Seraphina could faintly sense the city array formation scanning everything above them. Pulses of detection energy repeatedly swept through the surroundings, searching for intruders, spatial distortions, foreign soul signatures, and unauthorized movent.
Yet the formation completely ignored them. To the city array, they were nothing more than part of the natural underground water system flowing beneath the city.
Even Veerott, who normally remained calm, couldn’t help feeling shocked by the absurdity of the technique. They weren’t bypassing the array through stealth or brute force. Aqualas had fundantally altered their state of existence to the point where the formation no longer categorized them as living beings at all.
After traveling beneath the city for several minutes, the underground current suddenly surged upward. The flowing water rose silently through the earth before erging from the damp ground inside a dark alleyway deep within Sky Blossom City.
The water rapidly condensed and regained shape. Flesh reford. Bones solidified. Clothes materialized back into place. Within seconds, Aqualas, Seraphina, and Veerott stood there once again as though nothing had happened.
anwhile, high above them, the massive city array formation continued operating peacefully, completely unaware that three dangerous intruders had already entered the city undetected.
