Zhou Yun had her opinions, but as she was a newcor, she also held so reservations. She didn’t approach Lu Yuan even after several days of filming.

Gradually, as the shooting went on, Zhou Yun adapted to Lu Yuan’s filming style.

Lu Yuan preferred shooting short takes. Especially for scenes with heavy dialogue or complex staging, Lu Yuan liked to break them into parts. Such a thod was tedious and strenuous, but for newcors like Zhou Yun and Gu Huaichun, their performances actually beca much easier.

Both of their facial features were cara-friendly, not expressionless, but often they couldn’t grasp the right degree. A smile too wide, or lines delivered too artificially—such flaws could be better masked through fragntary acting, which provided them with more leeway to hide their inexperience.

At first, Zhou Yun thought there was sothing wrong with Lu Yuan’s aesthetics, but later, after careful observation, she realized that he was indeed a very precise director. The precision here ans that he knew exactly the outco he wanted and would achieve it in the quickest way possible.

There was a scene where Yu Yhan needed to cry, but she couldn’t shed tears.

If it were a demanding director, they might try to analyze the character with the actor, and let the actor delve into the character’s inner world to cry emotionally.

Lu Yuan didn’t intend to waste ti on this and simply changed Yu Yhan’s acting thod.

Originally, Yu Yhan was sitting in front of Zhou Yun, pleading with tears.

Lu Yuan had her choke up, bow her head, pause the shoot, apply eye drops, wipe away the tears, and then when Yu Yhan looked up again with red-rimd eyes, she continued with her lines. When she reached the end of a sentence, they would pause again for eye drops. Yu Yhan held them in as the shooting continued, and as tears rolled from her eyes as she delivered her lines, the scene was successfully shot.

Zhou Yun was dumbfounded.

It also served as a reminder to herself to never lower her standards, because in this crew, if she did, nobody else would.

While changing sets, Zhou Yun, sitting in her small chair, overheard Gu Huaichun complaining to Yin Zhou in a low voice.

"Shooting the movie this way, I feel like all my acting training is wasted. Why bother learning acting at all if we’re just going to use eye drops?" Gu Huaichun complained sarcastically.

Yin Zhou was always mild-mannered, and as usual, he just said, "The director must be trying to rush the progress."

Gu Huaichun continued, "No matter how fast we progress, this film is unbearable to watch, Yu Yhan’s acting is so fake, I don’t even get how Zhou Yun can follow along, impressive truly."

He presumably felt guilty for ntioning Zhou Yun’s na and glanced at her.

Zhou Yun acted as if she hadn’t heard, concentrating on her script.

In reality, she was all ears.

She definitely overheard Gu Huaichun’s words.

Though praise was not his intention, this was an unprecedented acknowledgnt for her.

Zhou Yun snorted softly, thinking to herself that she had plenty of skills.

Yu Yhan suddenly ca over.

She sat beside Zhou Yun and said apologetically, "I’m sorry, Xiao Yun, I affected your performance earlier, I just couldn’t get into the right mood."

What else could Zhou Yun say? She offered a comforting smile.

But then she saw Yu Yhan pull out her phone and start watching sothing—probably a cody video—as soon she heard her laughing.

Their next scene was still together. Shouldn’t she be reviewing her lines now?

Even if she didn’t have lines in the next scene, her performance had been so poor earlier that she had needed eye drops. Didn’t she feel any guilt or sha at all?

Her earlier contrition and apologies felt like a joke.

Zhou Yun withdrew her gaze.

At lunchti, the producer Huang Zhong arrived.

The mont he showed up, Yu Yhan flitted over like a lark, cooing, "President Huang, you finally ca to see us!"

Huang Zhong’s face blood like a chrysanthemum with his smile, "I’ve been sneaking out of my busy schedule. It’s been a few days since I last visited, so I thought I’d drop by."

The producer was the big boss, so all the main creatives went to greet him.

Zhou Yun was no exception, calling out, "President Huang."

Huang Zhong said, "I’ve booked a place for dinner tonight, we all should dine together."

When the producer spoke, Lu Yuan didn’t object.

To be honest, Zhou Yun would rather stay on set and film than attend such a dinner. She didn’t know anyone well, what’s the point of attending.

But, when you’re in worldly society, you’re not always in control. Sotis you have to do things reluctantly, and sotis you have to compromise.
