Zhou Yun stayed in the lounge for a while, zoning out. About half an hour later, she prepared to return to the hotel.
She and Zheng Xiaojue were walking towards the parking lot when they happened upon Xu Caisheng standing alone at the corner smoking.
By then, night had fallen, and the light at the corner was rather dim. Only upon approaching did they clearly see his face.
Xu Caisheng looked at Zhou Yun with surprise, seemingly unsure how to react.
Because both Zhou Yun and Zheng Xiaojue knew about his secret romance with ng Ran.
Xu Caisheng paused, said not a word, nodded slightly, and hurried off.
Zheng Xiaojue glanced back at Xu Caisheng’s retreating figure, curling her lips disdainfully, and said, "What an annoying person."
Zhou Yun listened to Zheng Xiaojue’s words and smiled.
That evening, just after ten o’clock, Zhou Yun had finished showering and drying her hair, and was ready to sleep when her phone suddenly rang.
It was Liu Yuqian who called.
Zhou Yun answered the phone.
Liu Yuqian seed to be drunk, her tone carrying a hint of intoxication, "Xiao Yun, let tell you, I really had no idea Xu Caisheng and ng Ran were dating, otherwise, I would never have gotten involved with that jerk. I’m feeling so depressed right now, Xiao Yun, I’ve drunk so much, but I still feel so miserable!"
It appeared Liu Yuqian was truly drunk. Her voice grew louder and louder over the phone, until her final sentence nearly ca out as a shout.
As Zhou Yun listened to Liu Yuqian’s words, she felt uneasy.
"Yuqian, are you alone right now?" she asked.
Liu Yuqian said, "Of course, I am alone. How can I dare to drink with anyone else? Xiao Yun, in the whole crew, I can only call you, you are a good person. I see that, I know you don’t really like to mingle with us, but you can’t help but care about us, right?"
Liu Yuqian suddenly giggled, "You are too easy to deceive."
Zhou Yun, "...you are drunk."
"I know I’m drunk, but... but, Xiao Yun, I really never thought about getting involved in soone else’s relationship." Liu Yuqian suddenly grew agitated, "I, Liu Yuqian, am not that kind of person!"
"I know, I know you’re not that kind of person, but where are you now? You’re not alone in a bar, are you?" Zhou Yun asked worriedly.
Liu Yuqian let out a big laugh.
Zhou Yun didn’t understand why she laughed so heartily.
Only after laughing did Liu Yuqian speak, "Of course, I can’t possibly be drinking alone in a bar, what if soone took a photo."
Zhou Yun asked, "Then where are you now?"
"I am of course alone in the hotel, so if I get drunk to a stupor, no one will know." Liu Yuqian’s tone carried a trace of loneliness.
Zhou Yun paused for a mont, then said, "Drink less."
"I thought you were going to say you’d co over."
"Do you need to co over?" Zhou Yun asked.
"Forget it, you should rest." Liu Yuqian’s sobriety seed to return in that mont; her voice suddenly hoarse, clear, calm, "Sorry for calling so late and disturbing you."
Zhou Yun sensed a certain loneliness in Liu Yuqian.
She hung up the phone.
Zhou Yun tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep.
She felt a certain concern within her.
Even though this concern was not initiated by her.
People often cannot control their hearts, like the unwarranted sympathy and pity for a criminal, or the indecisiveness when a swift decision is necessary.
Zhou Yun kept reminding herself that Liu Yuqian was just a passing acquaintance, soone she t on a film set, a temporary colleague with whom she had exchanged a few words.
But that was hardly enough to consider her a friend.
Moreover, Zhou Yun didn’t particularly admire Liu Yuqian as a person. Her warmth and initiative always seed to have so unknown agenda. Zhou Yun knew Liu Yuqian’s approach was not purely motivated by interpersonal attraction. However, regardless, she was a familiar person.
Even if a stranger was drunkenly staggering on the road, a normal person would feel concern, worried they might get hit by a car, let alone soone they know.
Zhou Yun sat up in bed, her hand covering her face.
After much hesitation, she made a call to Liu Yuqian.
But Liu Yuqian did not answer.
Zhou Yun thought about going to check on Liu Yuqian in her room, but then realized she had never been to Liu Yuqian’s room and didn’t even know which one it was.
