Zhou Yun asked Zhou Lan to find a place for a late-night snack.
Zhou Lan asked, "Who did you make plans with tonight? Song Chi?"
"Yeah," Zhou Yun said, "to spread so rumors."
Zhou Lan’s face lit up with a smile and said, "That’s great, I’ll contact so familiar reporters right away to take so photos of you two. No need to buy trending searches; you’ll hit the hot search organically."
Zhou Yun gave Zhou Lan a reproachful look.
The amusent deepened in Zhou Lan’s eyes.
Before leaving, Zhou Lan reminded her: "Although you’re eting Song Chi, try not to co back too late. There’s filming tomorrow. If you look too tired, even Photoshop won’t be able to fix it."
Zhou Yun responded with an "I know," and left.
Both of them had special identities, so of course, they couldn’t go to crowded places. Zhou Lan had contacted a friend who owned a small pub, who reserved a private room especially for them. They had arranged everything in advance; otherwise, it would indeed be difficult to actually have a al with Song Chi in reality.
Even at night, Zhou Yun wore a hat and a mask, making her way to the pub, got in touch with the owner, and went in through the back door.
A small private room, hidden in a corner, once the door was closed, no one outside could see anything.
Zhou Yun texted Song Chi: I’m here already. After you arrive, contact this number, the owner will co and take you in.
Song Chi didn’t reply to her.
Zhou Yun sent another ssage: Don’t you dare stand up.
Half an hour later, Song Chi arrived, fashionably late.
After entering, Song Chi took off his bucket hat and mask, revealing the face everyone was familiar with.
"At last you’re here," Zhou Yun said with a voice that held a tinge of complaint for waiting a long ti.
Song Chi sat down, placed his bucket hat and mask on the empty chair next to him, and said, "I was followed by so paparazzi on the way, took quite so ti to shake them off."
"Did you drive yourself?" Zhou Yun was a bit surprised.
"No, my driver."
Song Chi asked, "Did you call out for sothing today?"
Zhou Yun tossed the nu in front of Song Chi and said, "Not really."
"Oh my, treating to a al?" Song Chi expressed surprise.
"Yeah, especially inviting you for a al, aren’t you touched?" Zhou Yun teased, flipping her hair.
"Then you’re thinking too much," Song Chi said.
"It’s surely a misplaced effort," Zhou Yun shook her head and sighed.
This little pub was introduced by a friend familiar to Zhou Lan; the liquor was good, and the chef was not bad either.
Song Chi tasted the food, his eyes lighting up, and said, "I didn’t expect this. This modest-looking pub is actually pretty good."
Zhou Yun laughed mischievously and said, "Actually, I’ve never been here either. Sister Lan found it."
"That’s really insincere," Song Chi chided.
"It’s full of sincerity. If I lacked sincerity, I would have just randomly picked any place on Dianping (a local business review app)," Zhou Yun laughed, her eyes curving into crescent moons, as if filled with the water of a sumr night, sparkling and flickering as if there were moonlight sprites frolicking inside.
Song Chi was taken aback for a mont, then let out a silent laugh, looking down.
"What are you laughing at?"
"I’m laughing because Zhang Wuji’s mother really wasn’t wrong; you can’t trust a beautiful woman."
"It’s a pity Zhang Wuji isn’t Jay Chou. He didn’t listen to his mother, and oh, neither did Jay Chou himself," Zhou Yun found the cold joke she made amusing, laughed for a while, then looked at Song Chi and said, "It’s strange with you; after being in showbiz for so long, why do you have a special affection for ?"
Song Chi’s pupils shook, and he leaned back, startled, "Wha... what special affection?"
Zhou Yun spread her hands and said, "Apart from , is there a second person who has been rumored with you and ended up being your friend?"
Song Chi: "Shouldn’t you be grateful for my special favor toward you?"
"Do you think I have potential, that’s why you take extra care of ?" Zhou Yun feigned surprise, "What, do you think I can beco a Movie Queen in the future?"
"I think there’s no one in the world with a thicker skin than you. Instead of having you sneak around for my popularity now and then, better to let everyone know upfront that you’re my friend. That way, you can’t leech off the hotness of being a rumored girlfriend."
"It seems to have backfired, huh."
"It’s your own fault. You get on the hot search for anything and everything, more diligently than Sina’s darling daughter." Song Chi quipped.
Zhou Yun covered her face with her hands and said, "But I didn’t use to be like this before; it must’ve been you who passed it on to ."
"Now you’re blaming ?" Song Chi was incredulous.
Zhou Yun asked curiously, "Song Chi, has no one ever chased after you before?"
"Do you think that’s a problem?" Song Chi looked at Zhou Yun disdainfully.
"Then why don’t you date anyone?" Zhou Yun continued asking curiously.
Song Chi glared at Zhou Yun in horror, "Are you really coveting ?"
Zhou Yun said nothing, but raised her middle finger.
Keeping his eyes half-lidded, Song Chi said, "Then why do you care about my love life?"
Zhou Yun: "Just curious."
"Now is not the ti," Song Chi finally gave a little hint but didn’t elaborate.
That was enough for Zhou Yun. For whatever reason, just like her, Song Chi found it best to let things be at this ti. That was enough.
Zhou Yun smiled as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.
"I t one of your little fans at an event last ti, Yu Sitian. She’s such a big fan of yours. I’ve never even t her, but just because I was rumored with you, she treated like an enemy."
Song Chi: "Yu Sitian? Oh, I rember her."
"She must have confessed to you, right?"
"She’s been blocked by ."
"That’s not right, you also attended that event last ti," Zhou Yun said.
"Uh-huh, but you didn’t notice that I had no interaction with her, did you?" Song Chi said, "She’s a bit crazy. You’d better be careful around her from now on. Nowadays, I make sure to include avoiding any involvent with her in any contracts I sign."
"That extre?"
"You’ll see, the details in your contracts will only get more and more outrageous." Song Chi chuckled, "It’s beyond one’s control."
The two were sipping wine, eating food, and outside there were lively sounds.
In this secluded private room, Zhou Yun and Song Chi would occasionally throw a barb at each other.
But actually, this was also very nice.
It was very nice like this.
Zhou Yun thought, it had been so long since she had a purely simple dinner with a friend like this.
Song Chi thought, it had been a very long ti since he had such a purely simple al.
The two of them sat until eleven o’clock before they each arranged for a ride ho.
The night in Beijing, the shadows of the trees were swaying.
This small pub, actually not many people outside.
In the old quarters within the Third Ring, especially at night, it doesn’t quite look like a big international city. The air still had a hint of an old scent.
Those old buildings carried an eternal aura of tiless endurance. Zhou Yun sat in the car, watching them slowly enter her sight, then leave it.
Such a rare night.
How nice, just a dinner, nothing else happened, and like having a glass of wine, you turn around and walk away, nothing needs to be said.
